Excerpt: This printer is great if you only need to print in black ink and if you do not need to use it for copying or scanning. I did not realize that it was only a black ink printer. Also the toner is very expensive, but it does seem to print a lot of pages with the toner, so you will not have to replace it as often.
Excerpt: I love HP printers and have rarely had issues with them. Unfortunately, I really wanted the network capacity of this one and it hasn't delivered as seamlessly as hoped. While it works fine with the newer operating systems, our older desktops have needed more IT support than an inexpensive printer should warrant.
Excerpt: I purchased this printer because it was at a steep discount, but our IT people scolded me: We no longer purchase the P1606DN as it is very difficult to get installed as a network printer. The print driver is not conducive to a network install.I returned it without even opening the box, and ordered the HP LaserJet Pro 400 M401dne instead. In general, HP makes excellent printers and I'm sure that this would work fine in the appropriate environment.
Excerpt: I bought this printer for home use when u new laptop wasn't compatible with my old (really old) but tough and reliable printer. I just needed a tough, approachable, black and white duplex printer, that would also produce legal sized documents. Prices varied widely, and I didn't need any frills. As I reviewed various printers, this one seemed to meet my needs, seemed to be the right size for my work station, was in my price range, was on sale, and was available for next...
Good Printer, but does not connect wirelessly, needs physical ethernet and setup process is painful and archaic

Summary: FALSE ADVERTISING!!!! The printer cannot connect to your network wirelessly, you must connect via a physical ethernet cable. This printer works great if you plug it into the USB, but the setup for "eprint" is miserable. The setup process is extremely archaic and requires plugging into a hard ethernet line (USB is not sufficient) and printing out physical pages that must then be copied manually into web boxes to setup the device. HP should be embarrassed.
Excerpt: I just bought this printer today from the Riverside, Ca location. I have the exact same model I use a work and I really would give this printer 5 stars, except for the fact today I bought it, turned it on and started printing and the starter toner that came with it was ALREADY LOW. The light came on. The starter toner is supposed to give you 1000 pages of printing. I got approx 100. I was livid and was lucky I had an extra toner on hand.
Excerpt: I replaced my old HP 2300 with this model after the duplexer failed. It is priced right but is much slower than my old printer. Fortunately I print only 5% of what I used to so the significantly slower printing is that that big of a deal. Overall it is a good printer for people who do not need to print large volumes of material.
Summary: It prints well. Double sided prints get a little off center on side 2. The power save software tends to give me problems with my print spooler. I have to start the printer & wait for my computer to recognize the printer before I initiate the print command.
