Good Printer . . . While It Lasted

PghDragonman, Costco
18 June 2014
  • Summary: Good printer, but a short lifespan. After less than two years, it developed a fault with the toner sensor: it showed no toner, even with a fresh cartridge in place. Cost to repair would be about 3/4 of the printer cost.
  • Pros: duplex printing built-in networking
  • Cons: short lifespan high repair cost

sufficient

Bill, Staples
10 April 2014
  • Excerpt: I replaced my old HP 2300 with this model after the duplexer failed. It is priced right but is much slower than my old printer. Fortunately I print only 5% of what I used to so the significantly slower printing is that that big of a deal. Overall it is a good printer for people who do not need to print large volumes of material.

Good basic printer

Amazon
20 March 2014
  • Summary: It prints well. Double sided prints get a little off center on side 2. The power save software tends to give me problems with my print spooler. I have to start the printer & wait for my computer to recognize the printer before I initiate the print command.

OK but.....

Don Strel, Amazon
3 February 2014
  • Summary: I like the printer however it will print page 1 of a two page document but not print page 2. It pulls the paper back in but it come out blank on the 2nd side. I have to copy and paste to get it to print both pages. I have to pull in a computer expert to fix it.

keeps turning itself off

cj, Staples
5 December 2013
  • Excerpt: we have two of these printers, and the "green" function keeps turning it off, so when we are trying to print mission critical, timely, items, it always seems to be off, which jams up the print que.
  • Pros: Sharp detail

Install not easy

Fredrich Cruse, Amazon
17 September 2013
  • Summary: This is not easy to install on a Mac. Unit was bought to print from an iPad - haven't gotten the install on the computer complete yet to move on to the iPad portion.

Great for a PC, OK for a Mac

Joseph Hanchrow, Amazon
29 August 2013
  • Summary: I bought the printer on the recommendation of David Pogue, tech writer for the NY Times. I was especially interested in the 2 paper feeds. Turns out that the 2nd feed is wireless (which I have) but only works with a PC, not a Mac. Great speed along with 2 sided printing.

Great Printer

Delaine13, Hewlett-Packard
28 August 2013
  • Summary: I've only had the printer for a few weeks, but am thoroughly satisfied with this product. It was easy to set up and install. Other reviews noted the noise level which caused me to think again before purchasing, but the noise level is not an issue. Yes it may be louder than usual, but not enough of an issue to miss out on this printer with the great price. Love the auto-shut off. Very happy with this purchase.

Can't get it going

Anonymous, Hewlett-Packard
26 August 2013
  • Summary: My review downgrades this printer, which I purchased because of strong review, because I can't get it started with my OS. When I opened the box I'm strongly cautioned NOT to use the included disk with Mac OS X 10.8. But I'm totally frustrated implementing any alternatives from the HP Website so, frustratingly, the printer sits unused after several days. I've had no problems with earlier HP laser printers and don't like this lack of helpful support.
