Summary: The comparison table appearing on the Amazon page is highly deceitful. It indicates "Yes" for "2-sided printing". However, one my manually take the sheets coming out and place them on a second tray for the printer to print on both sides.
DO NOT BUY THIS FOR USE ON A MAC RUNNING MAVERICKS 10.9.2

Summary: If you intend to use on a network. **REVISED** 5/24/2014. Well, despite the glitch described below, I must confess this is an excellent machine. After having used it for about a month I find the printer to work flawlessly and hold up hope the HP engineers develop a fix to enable the printer to go to sleep as designed. Just remember to turn it off at night. :) when it prints, it prints perfectly and very, very fast!
Summary: On the good side, the printer arrived almost next day. On the negative side, as another reviewer mentioned, HP confuses purchasers in regard to this printer being black and white. The fact that this was not a color printer was not evident in the HP online description. Until it arrived and I opened the box, I thought I had bought a color printer; the model numbers HP assigns are very similar so they make it easy to get confused.
Summary: This is more of a review of Amazon's method for listing features than the printer itself. I specifically wanted an automatic duplex printer, and under Amazon's table of features, it says "Duplex Printing - Yes"... all this means is that there is an option in the driver to print first the odd pages, then manual reload, and then ``automatically" continue to print the odd pages on the other side.
Summary: HP's corporate laser printers are still the best, but their "workgroup" and home-line printers have gone down hill over the past 10 years. These issues should not be present with any printer, especially one labeled "Pro". If HP can't produce a small printer without issues right out of the box at what they feel to be a "competitive price", then produce one without issues at a price that makes it profitable.
Pros: When it works, it prints fast, as expected for an HP laser printer.
Cons: The drivers are horrible. I've sold three of these printers, two purchased at the same time, another recently purchased, at least 6 months apart and all have had the same issue. It starts out fine until it loses connectivity. This issue has occurred on Windows XP (32-bit), Vista(32-bit) and 7 (64-bit) locally connected via USB and on completely different networks in different geographic locations. Jobs get stuck in the queue and the machines have to be forcibly reboot...
Summary: It seems as if this model is being withdrawn as I can't find it now on other sites. I just purchased mine new, but after installation of the printer driver, my computer has started crashing with the Blue Screen of Death indicating a driver conflict. HP Support has been putting me through a number of tests for over four weeks (including sending a replacement printer for an experiment), and loading the printer and its software on an XP machine indicated the clear HP...
Summary: Quality of the printer did not meet my expectation for a HP. I own a HP 4550 That printer has lasted me for years and I bought it used. The quality of this printer is cheap. The printing quality is ok, but I am used to the quality I own from my previous printer.
Summary: The printer came with a broken front panel and required scotch taping it to hold it in place. I complained to the Amazon's supplier, and have, to date, heard nothing except a reply saying they had received my complaint. The printer is fine except the front panel is broken, and the service sucks. A very bad shopping experience.
