Not a duplex printer

Barney Glaser "Entrant", Amazon
  • Summary: This is more of a review of Amazon's method for listing features than the printer itself. I specifically wanted an automatic duplex printer, and under Amazon's table of features, it says "Duplex Printing - Yes"... all this means is that there is an option in the driver to print first the odd pages, then manual reload, and then ``automatically" continue to print the odd pages on the other side.

Terrible drivers

Anonymous, Newegg
3 February 2014
  • Pros: When it works, it prints fast, as expected for an HP laser printer.
  • Cons: The drivers are horrible. I've sold three of these printers, two purchased at the same time, another recently purchased, at least 6 months apart and all have had the same issue. It starts out fine until it loses connectivity. This issue has occurred on Windows XP (32-bit), Vista(32-bit) and 7 (64-bit) locally connected via USB and on completely different networks in different geographic locations. Jobs get stuck in the queue and the machines have to be forcibly reboot...

Poor Support

Tarantella, Amazon
16 January 2014
  • Summary: It seems as if this model is being withdrawn as I can't find it now on other sites. I just purchased mine new, but after installation of the printer driver, my computer has started crashing with the Blue Screen of Death indicating a driver conflict. HP Support has been putting me through a number of tests for over four weeks (including sending a replacement printer for an experiment), and loading the printer and its software on an XP machine indicated the clear HP...

HP Printer

Kirsten Ferrer, Amazon
6 December 2013
  • Summary: Quality of the printer did not meet my expectation for a HP. I own a HP 4550 That printer has lasted me for years and I bought it used. The quality of this printer is cheap. The printing quality is ok, but I am used to the quality I own from my previous printer.

Damaged goods

Shirley McCarty, Amazon
16 August 2013
  • Summary: The printer came with a broken front panel and required scotch taping it to hold it in place. I complained to the Amazon's supplier, and have, to date, heard nothing except a reply saying they had received my complaint. The printer is fine except the front panel is broken, and the service sucks. A very bad shopping experience.

Rapid printer but it overheats

redhawk2, Amazon
26 May 2013
  • Summary: Pages come out too hot -- oven hot. On a largish print job I burned my hand. I'll survive. I worry about fire dangers. The printer itself doesn't seem warm, but the pages shoot out as if they were made in earth's core. Seriously.

Wait on this one if you have a MAC

GusM, Hewlett-Packard
6 August 2012
  • Summary: I had this printer for two weeks. The original install under Lion OS was a little rough, but worked. Then I upgraded to Mountain Lion. Unplug the printer to re-arrange some cables and all of the settings lost. OK, just re-install - right? WRONG. First the install disk starts with OS not supported. Nothing on web support in the way of software for an OS that has sold 3 million copies in a few weeks!.
