Decent Printer, Suspect Formatter, Terrible support
6 May 2014
Summary: My seller was very responsive to an early set-up problem. The printer was very lightly used. This is just as well because the build level borders on flimsy when compared to earlier models on the same design, e.g. the 2100 and 2300. A number of web forum entries point to a high failure rate for the formatter in this model. Happily, that board is side-mounted with, solderless connectors, so replacement would be easy once you had the part in hand.
Summary: I needed an additional laser printer for my business but didn't want to spend for a brand new one. The printer I purchased has performed as well as I expected without any flaws or hitches except one. It was to have come with a toner cartridge but there was none. Still, the printer is doing it's job well and I have no complaints. I'd purchase it all over again if I had to.
Summary: HP did not include the full PCL 5 font set in this printer. Normally you can count on HP printers... Not in this case... Disappointed. We basically can't use these printers with our software. We either have to pay for major software upgrades to support PCL6 or PS, pay for a font DIMM (one for every printer), or replace the P2015DN printers.
Summary: Not Happy, Printer has never worked since I received it! Will not purchace from Stain again, I contacted them 1 week after I received and was told that was the only p2015 they had. That is the one I needed for my seasonal business. Now I restarting and having the same problems as in January.
Summary: I constantly have had problems with this printer. The PCB went bad on this thing twice. It was covered under HP's warranty, but it was just a hassle to have to replace something like this on a printer. It's like the PCB was a toner cartridge or something. Still have intermittent USB connection issues with this printer. Has good toner and drum life though. That's about it.
