Not for high volume envelope printing
31 March 2014
Summary: We bought this to replace an old LaserJet 4200. Occasionally we need to print a few thousand envelopes. We bought the optional envelope feeder and our first job was printing envelopes at a rate of about 6 per minute. Our old 4200 can do close to 20. I spent plenty of time with HP support and they said that's how fast it prints envelopes. I think that should be clear in the website documentation.
Summary: Very fast printing. Shipping was very fast. Inexperienced buyer here mistakenly assumed two separate paper trays were inluded but they're not. Purchased a separate tray and it works great. Had to download newest drivers for the printer to recognize the 3rd tray. It's not the quietest printer but so far we're very satisfied.
Summary: Fast , easy setup, but the toner cartridge that comes with it lasted about 50 pages , I know they ship with starter cartridges but that seems pretty worthless. Hopefully a full cartridge last longer.
Summary: We have two in our office and we are quite pleased with the printer. The description says it has two paper trays but what it really means is one paper tray and a manual paper feeder. We also purchased the extra tray for each and the staff find it very easy to use from their desk including setting up the print properties.
Pros: I have purchased a number of these printers for use in office suites where we are moving away from desktop printers. They print reasonably fast, are very reliable and reasonably priced. The only issue I've has is with the envelope feeder add-on which needs a lot of driver tweaking to actually print envelopes.
Summary: I purchased this printer as "New" from pcrush-outlet. It also came with the toner installed which raised red flags with me since I've never received a new printer that way. We have been having problems with creased paper output. A search of the serial number on HP's website for warranty repair shows this printer as REFURBISHED, not new. We have another of these printers and it's been great. I think that I was just given someone else's problem by a disreputable seller.
