Great printer for the reliability and ink costs per volume of B&W printing.

Summary: I actually bought this printer for a gift. It is identical to the one I have happily owned for many years now. I love it for it's economical ink replacement price and the volume of prints given per cartridge. Because I rarely need color prints and have another printer for color, I was looking for an economical B&W workhorse and it has never let me down. If mine should ever play out I will be getting another one - if it still available.
Summary: I just got the HP LaserJet 1160 as a hand me down for college! It is a BEAST, works effortlessly via USB to my 2013 windows 8 computer. No jams, no problems printing, haven't even run out of ink or toner!! This thing is pretty much invincible, for it to still work perfectly today!!! Do not waste your money on today's printers. This thing does work and makes it work!!
Summary: The printer did not come with a print cartridge, which drove up the price to get it working. Once the printer was set up with my computer, it had an error on it that could not be cleared and will not print properly. Waste of money, but a lesson learned.
If you have one, I've been preach'n to the choir. If not, get the religion!

Summary: With Parallel port and USB printer connections that will allow two printers at the same time, and a very rugged engine and affordable after-market toner, we find these to be excellent printers to run in abusive environments. Getting 100k copies with less than 10 paper jams *ever* is not unusual.
Summary: I am very pleased with this printer. It was cheaper to purchase this one than to have my old one fixed. It runs quietly and quickly. Drivers loaded easily with Windows 7 and the printing is crisp and clear. I like this one so much that if something goes wrong with it, I will probably get it fixed instead of buying another printer. That is how much I like it.
Summary: The HP Laserjet 1160 seems to be a very fine printer. Although HP's high quality may not carry across all their products lines, they seem to know how to build a quality printer. I've been using a Laserjet 6P for years and it's been a jem and when I needed a second printer, I reviewed their models and decided on the 1160. What drew me to the 1160 was, first of all, the fact that it was a HP. I expected a quality unit. Wasn't disapointed.
