Summary: It's not a high feature printer - only one paper tray, no duplex. But it's reliable and the replacement cartridges are dirt cheap (you can get them rebuilt for as low as $6. We have about 20 of them at our school and the low first cost (buying used) and low toner cost gives you the lowest cost per...
Summary: What I like: Good quality of output and a reliable paper feed mechanism that only jams if I try to feed paper that may have been stapled together. The toner cartridge lasts a long time and is reasonably priced, for a laser cartridge.
Printer is 5 stars but HP driver support is horrific!
29 October 2009
Summary: This printer never installed without using the setup disk. It will not install on Windows 7 and HP has not yet provided a driver even though Windows 7 is officially released. In general HP is so far removed from the company it used to be 20-30 years ago.
Summary: This printer took all of 8 minutes to install. Plugged it into my Linksys WRT54G 10/100 port and ran the software on my Win2K PC. Software installed, printer found on the network, and test page printed in less than 8 secs!
Summary: I bought this for the office and it prints and networks well. I also have a 1020 and it does not work well with a Linksys print server. The 1022N has a built-in server that will work in our Windows environment.
Excerpt: I have used a HP 1018 for many years and found it excellent. When I needed a new printer, I therefore tried to get another but in fact found a 1022, which is virtually the same but newer model that has a few improvements - particularly faster spooling, so the printing starts noticeably quicker.
Pros: Small footprint, reliable, decent quality everyday printing & reliable
