Summary: I have never written a review before, but this printer is so awesome that I felt compelled to go out of my way to sing its praises. I received it as a gift in my freshman year of college, and now 7 years later it has never failed me to this day. I've only ever had to replace the toner once, and it has never malfunctioned. Most reliable and easy to use product I own.
Summary: These are pretty good workhorse printers. We've been using them in an office environment for years. Toner is a bit spendy unfortunately. Out of around 5+ that we have i've only had to send one in for repairs, and user 'error' probably caused that.
Summary: I've had this printer since 2003. No problems, no issues, 0 maintenance, use cheapest generic remanufactured toner from amazon sellers. Light home use. Friend bought the newer model about three years ago. Compared to 1020 the new models have a much lower cartridge capacity, smaller cartridge. I think about half the size of 1020.
Summary: I have had this printer for 7 years or so and it has worked flawlessly and barely uses any of the cartridge even when set to high resolution printing. I use it almost daily and it has only needed the cartridge changed out ONCE, about a year ago. This makes this a huge money saver compared to inkjets that need expensive cartridges every few months with comparable printing frequency. Has the capability for dual sided printing, which is a paper-saver.
Save Valuable Space, Time and Money with the HP 1020
15 August 2013
Summary: This reliable, low maintenance, high quality printer is perfect for a small business or even home with black & white printing needs. The great thing about this printer there is no real warm up time. The printer is ready to print within the first 10 seconds, once you turn it on. The printer even though compact is a workhorse. With a print capacity of up to 5000 pages per month with no problems. The print quality is excellent.
Summary: Top notch office printer for the small office. I have 4 of them and they all work perfectly. I couldn't be happier. It has a small footprint and the paper is all accessible from the front! Super printer without all the bells and whistles that seem to bog down other printers. This one is straight forward! Way to go HP! Doo Doo Doo Doo Doooo, I'm Lovin' it!
Summary: This economy plan-Jane printer is a diamond in the rough. Nothing fancy to break or fail. Its been up and running faithfully for 4.5 years, and in a hot and dusty environment. If you need a B/W workhorse printer, this is the one.
Summary: I knew a 1020 would work well in windows, and now I know that it works well as well in FreeBSD 9.1 and Ubuntu 12.04. Its a good printer. I like the way my old hp1200 laserjet works with big piles of envelopes, but otherwise, the 1020 is super.
Summary: I bought this printer almost 8 years ago for school and it is still great! It has seen me go through three different laptops, running Windows XP, Vista, 7, and now 8. The printer has never had any hardware issues (parts breaking or even excessive paper jams) or software issues aside from when using it with Vista. If you are running Vista, I would not recommend this printer because the drivers are not very good.
