Summary: We bought this printer (although not from Amazon) several years ago after getting sick and tired of the cheap inkjet printers. It has been a great investment! I think we paid around $150 for it.
Summary: this printer is exactly like the one that messed up on me and since I had extra cartridges I decided to get the same printer. Even better there was need to reprogram another disc into my computer, so Amazon had just what I needed at the time for the right price.
Summary: From the beginning, it would not print well. I could not use the toner saving position because you couldn't read it if you did. I contacted HP and got nothing from them. Before when a printer was bad, I would just contact the mfg and they would send another one at no cost.
Summary: Bought this printer TWICE (one used here on Amazon, and one open box from a store) and neither worked. Poor design all around. I bought the 1606 instead. Hopefully that's the more durable one of the current HP's.
Summary: HP needs to be a bit more specific when they claim this printer is Macintosh compatible. It really isn't compatible with the Snow Leopard operating system. I bought this printer for my new Mac because it would support manual duplex printing. I was so disappointed.
Summary: The majority of our printers are HP. Some printers are running 8+ years strong without any issues. If you're going to buy an HP printer, my advice, stay away from this specific model. Thank you NewEgg for handling my RMA with lightning quickness!
Pros: Inexpensive. Does the job when it works.
Cons: Google "p1006 out of paper error". Once the paper tray is out of paper, the 'out of paper' message does not go away even when the paper supply is replenished. I have downloaded the latest drivers, cleaned the printer spooler (cleanspl.exe), reinstalled the printer, still no luck. This is the 2nd ...
Summary: I paid $100 for each of my P1006 printers and think they have been a very good value. My Epson laser printers were good for about seven years; my Samsung printers were good for about 5 years. We'll see how long the HP holds up.
Pros: After owning a couple of other laser printers (Epson and Samsung) I wanted to try the inexpensive HP P1006. I used it at home for six months, then bought one for the office as a personal printer. It is fast, quiet, prints about 15 pages a minute with the fastest first print I've ever had. Toner c...
Cons: Does not do well with heavier stock and mailing labels have to be loaded one sheet at a time.
