Summary: I just printed my first 24inch color print and am just thrilled at the results! Colors are dead on accurate, and the resolution is tight. Real easy to set up. Very heavy of course so you'll need two people to get out of crate. I'm a pro photographer and am very pleased with this printer. But it!! Doug W.
Summary: This printer is BIG! About 5 ft wide and the shipping package is 225 pounds. Unpacking and assembly is quite simple with very good instructions. The technology leapfrogs both Epson and Canon. It has a 12 ink system and like the Canon, does not require ink loss in changing between mat and gloss paper which is a serious problem with the Epson printers.
Summary: Update After 18 mo. I did buy another for my business 6 months ago. I agonized over the newer 3200, but it uses a differnt ink gamut, hence diffrent cartridges. There were no real driving features for the 3200 over another 3100 fro my business but the ink inventory. After using the "new" one for dedicated poster prints, I did notice some flaking as per the other review. My other on did not, and the difference being my first and older 3100 is used for a variety of papers.
Summary: Comments about HP Designjet Z3100PS GP Large Format Photo Printer: If you have a daughter that is picture crazy like mine then you are going to want to get this printer! It is the only one that we have tried but it seems to work very well for her. She loves to print out the family and pet pictures to send to all of our cousins. It seems to be very fast and I was amazed at the quality of the photos.
Summary: Comments about HP Designjet Z3100PS GP Large Format Photo Printer: if you print or publish an odd sized publication or newspaper then you are going to spend up to 50,000 on a quality printer ---- unless you buy this! That is exactly what we did. We got rid of our old super expensive and always breaking down printer and replaced it with this one. Wow! Best move we ever made. The quality of this is WAY better than the sharp we had.
Pros: Durable Construction, Easy To Use, Fast Operation, Reliable
Summary: Comments about HP Designjet Z3100PS GP Large Format Photo Printer: My company prints many large photo prints and we were limited to a 24" width due to our older printers. This beast allowed us to go up to 44"! It meant more work for me, but this has been a pleasure to work with. The color comes out terrific and amazingly true to onscreen quality. The ink can be used up extremely fast as you can imagine so buy some extra to keep on stock.
Summary: Comments about HP Designjet Z3100PS GP Large Format Photo Printer: This printer is easy to setup, easy to use, and easy to manage. It is all-around an easy to use printer. It is a little over-priced, but it is a good printer nonetheless. It does use a lot of ink, but that is because it is a photo printer... what photo printer doesn't use a lot of ink? ;) Anyways... I think this was a great buy, and would recommend it to colleagues.
Pros: Compact Design, Durable construction, Easy Setup, Easy To Use, Fast Print Time, Reliable
Summary: HP service center called and worked with me for two weeks replacing parts and uploading software to fix my printer. Thanks Cesar from HP I'm spending another hour trying to load paper into my HP printer, every day it rejects the paper loaded. The process of reloading takes an hour because the printer continues to reject paper rolls. Sheet loaded media is worse. I can't believe HP would sell a product that doesn't work.
Summary: This printer makes the highest quality prints I have yet seen. The printer drivers installed on my Mac easily. The tech on the support line hemmed and hawed about hooking the printer up directly by USB and I had buffer overflows until I switched to Fast Ethernet. No problems since. The Luminous Landscapes site has a very good knowledge center for this printer and that is how I found out about the USB bug. If you get this printer you should check it out.
Summary: I bought this printer to replace a 10-year old HP DesignJet 5500 for color accurate wide format printing. The printer was purchased mainly to produce prints for design approval. Unfortunately, it is nowhere close to color accurate. At all. I purchased the extra eye-2-eye software package (an additional $1k), and installed it, repeatedly using every trick I could think of. I can't get prints even remotely close to color-accurate.
