Summary: I've owned a slew of printers and compared to them, this one sticks out as being the most trouble-free. It prints great despite going unused for weeks and months at a time. It's compact and not real noisy and it's a real dandy!
Summary: I order a print job - nothing big, this is for home printing. I do not get it. Why do I keep trying. I MUST turn off the printer, unplug it from the computer, turn off the computer, turn on the computer, turn on the printer, plug the printer to the computer, and THEN it prints. I will not buy an HP printer again. I bought an Epson for my other house. It is a gem. I will continue to play around with this thing as I just don't have the money to buy an Epson for here.
Summary: This is easily the worst "printer" (I put printer in quotes because it only actually prints maybe 10% of the time) I have ever owned. It might even be the worst electronic device I have ever owned. Sure, it is inexpensive. But other things, like ketchup packets, are also inexpensive. And you could probably print more efficiently using ketchup packets. The printer jams 100% of the time. I have to manually feed the paper, one by one, into the machine.
Summary: I'll make this short and not so sweet. I bought this printer for occasional printing off of one of my computers. I've never been so frustrated with a product as this one. It is impossible to print anything without fiddling around with it so that it grabs the paper. Half the time it will (did) just bang around and go offline. This printer is no longer with us, as I have just destroyed it completely. My old HP printers are great. This thing is a piece of junk.
Summary: I bought this printer from Wal-Mart a few years ago, and it worked fine when we got it. However, before I upgraded to a far better printer, I would literally have to restart my computer before the printer would print anything. You don't get a lot of prints from the ink for the cost, and it makes a lot of noise when it does finally print. Also, for me, it takes about 13 seconds to print plain black text, and that's just ONE page!
Summary: The printer is exactly as described. It uses color or black ink cartridge. I purchased this printer because it uses cartridge, which I prefer. The cartridges are inexpensive. I could buy store brand cartridge or HP brand, therefore, I have a greater selection when I need to replace the cartridges. Also, the printer is very simple to operate. I am very pleased with my purchase.
Summary: This printer is a piece of garbage. I've hardly used it, and it's had nothing but issues. It keeps making loud grinding noises, and half of the time it doesn't print, and I have to restart my computer. Furthermore, it's made of cheap materials. Spend a little extra money to get a product of quality that won't crap out after month.
Summary: Bought this new and cheap and got what I paid for. ( Half this price.) Never did work well... hesitated, didn't print, paper wouldn't go through. Suffered with it for 2 years. So glad I got another printer now. There are a lot better printers out there.
Summary: I too own a Deskjet D1660 printer. The only reason I got rid of my previous printer is because it was becoming too old and outdated, which means the ink cartridges were becoming VERY expensive, up to 40-50 dollars in some cases. With that money, I can just buy another printer (this Deskjet D1660 to be precise) however... that turned out to be a mistake. Yes, the assortment of negative reviews you're reading ARE in fact, entirely accurate.
