Summary: I bought this product because I have a similar model in the HP line, and I am pleased with it. It uses ink conservatively, and is sturdier than most printers. Another concern: ink-jet cartridge compatibility. Having two devices using the same cartridges -- black and color -- simplifies reserve-stock purchases. things. (I also results in less waste when a printer dies.) HP no longer makes models in this line, however, which complicated things.
Summary: The 6980 is a nice machine which I've had for a couple of years now. It prints nice and fast on fast draft and hasn't given me any trouble, despite lots of use. I don't know of an HP printer that doesn't move through a healthy amount of ink, but this printer is as reasonable on ink cartridges as I've come across. I wouldn't print family keepsake photographs on it or anything, but it's great for everyday and business use.
Summary: Does excellent when working with pictures. Thats about all I use it for is pictures and it seems to really do the job well. Although its a little 'slow' it does excellent pictures. For regular jobs like office paper work its great too, and a lot more faster. I do recommend you use the HP 99 INK when doing printing pictures with this unit/printer.
Summary: Was replacing one we have been using daily (and extensivly) in our lab for the last 5+ years. Have them all over the plant and they are real work horses. JUST DO NOT BUY CHEAP REPACKAGED INK!! The old one was destroyed by repackaged ink cartridges leaking all over inside it. GREAT PRINTER!
