Summary: I had to return this product, it was not sold as advertised. It did not work. It was a hassle to get the money back as well. It took a long time to get it right. I finally ended up buying a new unit.
Summary: My broken printer is out of warranty, so I e-mailed HP to see if the desktop 'director' would be compatible with another HP printer. The HP 'help' line was useless because they will respond to NO question (even one as non-technical as mine) unless the printer is still under warranty. Needless to say, I will never purchase another HP product.
Summary: I purchased this printer. I installed it. After a week, it went offline and would not go online, regardless of power cycling, reading the manual, or any troubleshooting or reconnecting. It now resides in my trash can.
Pros: Gets the job done....basic printing, nothing fancy
Cons: Install takes FOREVER!! I work in the IT field and have installed this printer on several computers. It is horrible how long it takes! Once you get to the part where it tells you to connect to your printer to your computer it can sit there for over an hou
Summary: I've made the mistake of buying an HP printer on two occasions and perhaps the thuing that bothers me the most about it is a problem with ink jet printers, but here goes: I spend more money on INK for the stupid printers to print an alignment page than I do on ink to actually print what I want. Every single time I want to print something the stupid machine spits out an alignment page! Total waste of black and color ink and I suspect that this is done by design by HP.
Summary: When I was searching for a printer I was searching for a Portable Printer. I selected this printer because the price was right. But this was far from a portable printer as could be expected. What it is, is a small printer for someone like a college student with limited space, it is certainly not a portable printer. I am a sales person who needs a portable printer that I can take on the road with me. This is not that small.
Summary: This printer is a piece of junk if you need to print more than 3 double-sided pages. it constantly feeds multiple pages through on the second side. everything gets out of order -- there's half a page printed here and the other half printed over there on another piece of paper. all you have is a bunch of trash at the end. it makes you furious b/c you have a printer but you can't print what you want to without babying the thing through printing a couple of pages at a time.
HP 6940 Great until it goes -- for no apparent reason it stopped...installed new cartridge same problem.flashing drop.

Summary: I've had this printer about 2 years...have one at work too (HP 6980 same cartridge and design)...last year my work one had a problem with the black cartridge..kept indicating that it was empty or defective...replaced it twice and then IT person found that it was a problem with the printer cartridge holder/reader flimsy metal thing. Got a new one same model. Then my home printer had the same problem about 8 months later (early May) ..
Summary: I puchased this item new from Amazon.com. It appeared to be damaged, from the condition of the top cover. From the very outset, it would make a loud crashing sound when trying to print, most of the time. It would also pull extra paper occasionaly requiring a reset. After contacting HP service and running the tests they require for help, the printer is no longer functional. It failed all their tests.
