Summary: I Purchased 2 New HP 5940s In 12/2005. I Wore 1 Out From Constant Use In 12/2009. I Still Have 1 Of The Originals. I Was Looking On Amazon A Few Weeks Ago & I Found The One I Ended Up Purchasing. I Already Had The Installation CD & The Power Supply. I Just Hooked Up The "New One" & Named It "HP 5940a" And It Works Perfectly.
Summary: I recently acquired this printer from an estate in an "Open box" condition but was still taped up and was told that the previous owner never got around to even setting it up. I am a "re-seller", and also reasonably "technical", so I brought it home and installed the software and drivers, and found I had a 99 Photo cartridge for it that was still in its original box. Reading previous reviews, I was apprehensive but upon trying it with ordinary paper stock and 4 x 6 H.P.
Summary: The printer worked great. Very user friendly and easy to set up. The picture quality and speed were excellent for both black and white and colour. The driver disk did not work with windows vista, but you don't need it since vista installed the device without any problems at all. I was up and running in about 10 minutes.
Summary: After swearing by Epson printers for years this printer has changed my perception of HP. It's great. No clogged nozzles to worry about. Excellent print quality. Auto-shutoff capabilities. Very inexpensive, but as with most injets, the cost is in the cartridges - although they do last a long time. Highly recommended.
Summary: I have two printers for printing photographs and wanted a dedicated printer just for letters and doccuments so as to not use my photo quality inks. This little unit fills the bill perfectly. The eBay seller got it as a freebie when he bought something else so it was still in its unopened box, and I got it for a song. I haven't used it that much yet, but each time I've turned it on it has printed perfecty without having to run a cleaning cycle.
