Summary: I would expect that anyone who would purchase a printer of this caliber would not have high expectations in terms of color accuracy or pages per minute. It's a good printer for the money, takes up little space, and will give you decent printouts for light-duty tasks. With a little maintenance, it should last a few years.
Summary: This is a terrific printer, but HP hasn't updated the software to work with Windows 7. Ink levels and service tool connections that were orginally provided in the original software is inaccessible in newer opterating systems. And HP wonders why their printer business is falling off.
Summary: I Purchased 2 New HP 5940s In 12/2005. I Wore 1 Out From Constant Use In 12/2009. I Still Have 1 Of The Originals. I Was Looking On Amazon A Few Weeks Ago & I Found The One I Ended Up Purchasing. I Already Had The Installation CD & The Power Supply. I Just Hooked Up The "New One" & Named It "HP 5940a" And It Works Perfectly.
Summary: We ordered a printer but it would not pull the paper through. We tried all the suggestions you gave us but it would not work. It was supposed to be a brand new printer but the box had been opened and resealed when it got here. It said on the box it had a digital camera in it but that had been removed. We then ordered a rebuilt printer as you were out of new and the rebuilt printer works fine. I am not sure we really got a new printer the first time.
Summary: I recently acquired this printer from an estate in an "Open box" condition but was still taped up and was told that the previous owner never got around to even setting it up. I am a "re-seller", and also reasonably "technical", so I brought it home and installed the software and drivers, and found I had a 99 Photo cartridge for it that was still in its original box. Reading previous reviews, I was apprehensive but upon trying it with ordinary paper stock and 4 x 6 H.P.
