Summary: This is a great old reliable printer that is easy to install, has great features like being able to print straight from the Digital Camera. There's only a few complaints about it; One the paper tray only holds 100 sheets and the paper path is curved so is not ideal for some adhesive-backed labels and form types and for thicker stock. Some grabbing has happened, and the fact that it only accepts a 93-92 ink(however that is with all printers these days.
Summary: This printer is great. Very fast printing and setup. All that I needed to print documents with my laptop. The only one flaw is the price of cartridges. They are very expensive and can drain quickly. This isn't a flaw, just an annoyance. Overall very pleased.
Summary: I got this printer for free when I bought my desktop two years ago and just barely started using it in the last 6 months. I shouldn't have waited! It was easy to install and easy to use. I have printed some beautiful photos out of it. I had to print three pages of collages for an adoption profile my husband and I made, and the pictures were small, but very detailed. It's quick for normal black and white text documents, and a tolerable speed for photos.
Summary: I am about an hour away from being the winning bidder on a hp 5440. The one I am replacing ran about 1 1/2 years, 3500 pages printed. The main reason for the new one is I have spare ink and I want to keep the same ink. It will be about 40.00 with shipping and that seems ok for the expected 18 months of use. Like a couple of people above, the carriage jams up and you have to hold the blinking reset button. Each time..
Summary: Nice and quiet, fast on econo mode. Prints nice although I have not tried photo quality printing. I am a pretty low end user most of the time. It sometimes takes up several pages instead of just one.
Summary: I like HP printers. every one I have owned has performed as advertised. The HP5440 has a little larger desktop presence than I had anticipated. I was looking for a smaller version with similar specs. The printer does perform as advertised and I am not disapointed with its function. The paper tray is the weak link. The plastic clips that allow the tray to rise up out of the way on the desktop are fragile and break easily.
Summary: I'm a college student and decided to get my own printer for my room because I was tired of going to the living room computer to print out my schoolwork. So far, the 5440 has been good to me, but I have one problem: The black ink smudges when I print on soft gloss or high gloss photo paper. Am I supposed to use HP Photo papers? I didn't have this problem with my old Hp deskjet printer. I waited for the next day and it still smudged. that's my only complaint.
