Lousy, Worst Printer We've ever bought
E. Hansen, Amazon
4 October 2012
Summary: Bought this for the office to replace a Dell 1320c which was a real trooper. This boasted a smaller size, for which we were excited. Having religiously bought HP 4250's, which we believe to be the best printers on the market, expectations for these were fairly high.
Summary: I upgraded from a Canon Inkjet printer. I was constantly running to the store to get cartridges at $22 each. The laser printer should be more economical to operate.
Pros: This printer has a small footprint on my table. It operates quietly when printing. It took very little time to setup, remove the tape strips and initialize. I downloaded the drivers from HP instead of using the CD. I am using Georgia-Pacific Premium Inkjet and Laser paper which is between $5 and ...
Cons: Doesn't have a page counter in the LCD display. Doesn't include a printer cable.
Summary: My Cons: * Inital Toner Settings * Annoying Cleaning mode, especially when using the custom paper tray. Other necessities: If you print big or complicated documents, you will need the memory card. I got the max 256 Mb for under $15 from here on Newegg. It’s well worth it.
Pros: * Easy Setup * Network Manageable * Simple Driver Installation * Good Print Quality For the price to get a HP LaserJet printer that has color, wired networking, and network managed, this was a great deal. You can save a lot of money by going laser VS inkjet. My previous printer cost around $35.00...
Cons: If you go to the printer menu and go to: Print Quality -> Replace Supplies -> Override Out. In this mode the printer ignores the fact that it thinks the cartridge is empty and prints anyways. This is the best fix because it doesn’t really involve anything major. (It’s what I did) NVRAM reset (sou...
Summary: For the money, you cannot beat what HP offers in this product. It is stable and quick for a color laser. Don't expect it to perform the same as a $600 or $700 printer, but I think it is worth the investment.
Pros: This printer is great for photo printing, color docs, and all around personal use. I've used it for a long while and the cartridges last a pretty long time. It has a good range of card stock capabilities.
Cons: It is a personal use printer. Althought it is good for a small office, I would not recomend it above 3 users.
Summary: This is a good printer, I purchased it for my sister who is a teacher and was replacing a HP Laserjet 4L and wanted color. She has too large of time gaps in between printing to get an inkjet, they always dry out on her, so this was the perfect solution.
Pros: Low initial cost Full color Fast printing Easy setup Generic consumables available
Cons: * A little larger than it would have to be. * Only comes with toner starter kit...I hate starter kits...totally useless. Just say "comes with enough toner to print a few test pages"...ahem, sorry about that little vent there. * Not wireless
Pros: Good quality print and fast. Works as promised
Cons: Bought 3 for my company and turned off color but the printer uses color even if you don't print any color. On my 3rd set of toner Cartridges in less then a year. Black I understand but all 3 color??? Emailed HP about this but did not get a response.
Summary: The 1518 is a little faster than the 4P for the first page, much faster for all subsequent pages. The ToolboxFX utility easily adjusts CMYK colors, but knowing which way to adjust is a work in progress for me. I ended up at M +1, Y -1 for the maps I print.
Pros: : • Amazing value • Single sheet feeder • Brain dead easy setup • Large finger recesses, bottom center, for lifting the big fella • Sharp text • ToolboxFX Utility • Compact footprint • USB & Ethernet • Nice organic shape I run my SOHO business using two HP printers, both from NewEgg. I print colo...
Cons: : • Dreadful case color choices, gray & black • Small paper tray, ~100 sheets • No custom paper size The black and gray case colors make the 1518 look like death warmed over. My LJ 4P held 1/2 ream of paper, so surprised at such a small tray on the 1518, particularly for a network printer. The go...
Summary: If you have a router then don't even bother with the USB cable just plug directly into the rounter with an ethernet cable. Its one less cord to worry about.
Pros: Very nice printer for the price. I mean, its a color laser printer. It does what it is designed to do and the prints look great. I have not used photo paper but pictues even seem to have very nice quality. Hoked up to the network and serched for printers on all my computers int he house. You can ...
Cons: I did not expect the black and white prints to take soo long. Its not slow but its slower than I expected for a laser printer. It still beats any ink jet I have ever seen.
Summary: I've set up hundreds of printers and this one was very easy to set up. Followed the simple 6-step instructions to remove all of the tape and unseal the toner. Powered it on and its network interface immediately got an IP from my DHCP server.
Pros: The printer is very easy to use, and the small LCD on the front is nice as it gives printer status. The prints are a little dark, but that can be adjusted later. The printer is pretty quiet, and the speed is definitely something I can live with considering the price. The web interface for the pri...
Cons: Toner is quite expensive, so I am going to try a refill kit when the time comes.
