Microchipped to fail after a few years of use

cofico, Amazon
16 March 2012
  • Summary: I absolutely despise our printer. I can't wait to get a new printer and I will make sure it is not HP (NEVER AGAIN!) and that it is not microchipped to fail. Yes, that's right: our printer has a microchip that makes it not work anymore because we've owned it too long.

awful

Ronald R., Newegg
10 October 2007
  • Summary: These printers are the headache of our office. We have 2, and they are about to be thrown out. I would not recommend these to anyone, and I wouldn't even want to give them to my enemies.
  • Pros: FAST (when they work)
  • Cons: Very inefficient with ink, jams up on every print job or two for no apparent reason, gets hung up very easily if too many print jobs are queued, all around AWFUL.

Really nice printer

Mr. M., Newegg
8 May 2007
  • Summary: As always , Newegg treated me right.
  • Pros: Fast. Easy to set up. Duplexer works great. Out of the box and had it going in less than 15 minutes. And did I mention fast?
  • Cons: NO cables? Not a big deal. Most of us already have a printer, so we just use the old cable.

MS Review

6 May 2007
  • Summary: Couldn't use my USB cable with my previous HP Printer, luckily I had a spare.
  • Pros: Fast speed and set up was easy
  • Cons: Could NOT get the auto duplexing to print automatically! It only worked manually. I specifically bought this printer for auto duplexing. Support will be a challenge!

Very Good

Anonymous, Newegg
10 March 2007
  • Pros: Excellent printer and software. I gave it 4 stars only because it has yet to stand the test of time. Duplex feature works great!!! This is the third printer I've owned that uses the HP10 & 11 ink tanks. They're huge so you don't need to spend a fortune on ink. Also has replaceable print heads.
  • Cons: None so far.

HP Gets It Right

Anonymous, Newegg
6 February 2007
  • Summary: Been through many printers at home & office. The 1200 seems to be very good. Time will be the true test.
  • Pros: Excellent product. Ink cartridges are generous. Duplex feature = A++. Drivers & toolbox software work flawlessly. Firmware upgrade available on HP website.
  • Cons: None so far but it's only been 1 week. Why can't HP include a USB cable? Are the bean counters that tight? HP could take a big chance and include an $8 cable which saves me another ten dollar trip to the store to buy a non-HP branded cable.

  • Pros: This printer is simple, efficient, fast and reliable. The only one reasonably priced with a parrallel port. I bought 2 for my business.
  • Cons: Paper loading takes practice.

It works......

Gregory R., Newegg
26 April 2006
  • Summary: This is a good printer, just not the best. Is good for double sided brochure printing.
  • Pros: Easy setup, AUTO DUPLEXING INCLUDED! Handles cardstock and heavy paper.
  • Cons: Noisy, clunky, slow, print heads wear out quick.

Can't beat it....

Gregory R., Newegg
29 March 2006
  • Pros: I bought this printer to do auto duplexing, a job it does very well. For a small office this handles all our printing needs for advertising.
  • Cons: Boxed was already opened before, refurbished maybe? Didn't bother me too much cause everything was intact.

User Review

Clay R., Newegg
15 February 2006
  • Pros: Very fast printer. The duplexing is great, saves a lot of paper for school work. The ink cartrides are large, especially the replacement.
  • Cons: This printer is bigger than most other HP inkjet printers, and it also require a short warm-up period, but either one is nothing to complain about
