HiTi 641PS review

expertreviews.co.uk
25 November 2005
  • Excerpt: Spend £46 more than you would on the 631PS, and you get this, the HiTi 641PS. That's an increase in price of over a third, so you'd think you'd get plenty more for your money. Sadly, you'd be wrong. Aesthetically, things are pretty much the same. Okay, so the plastics of the case have shed their bronze sheen, and the lines are a little curvier, but the basic form factor remains unchanged, and the weight has even increased.

  • Summary: For someone needing a stand-alone printer or the ability to print photographs away from the PC, the HiTi 641PS is an excellent piece of kit. The ability to print straight from the camera or scanner, or even a mass storage device with USB interface, as well as printing from memory cards (accepts CF1 & 2, Micro-drive, Smart Media, MMC, SD, Memory stick, MS-pro, xD (with adaptor)) onto photo paper or stickers gives this machine great versatility.
  • Pros: Stand-alone ability, Print quality and longevity, Versatile input options, Consistent print cost
  • Cons: A little slow, especially processing,, Noisier than inkjets, Cost of media, (although coming down)

HiTi 641PS review

20 January 2005
  • Excerpt: We last reviewed a Hi-Touch photo printer in Labs, Shopper June 2004. Since then the company has been steadily adding to its range. Released in October 2004, the 641PS uses the same dye-sublimation engine as the 640PS, which has dropped to £200 including VAT. When compared with the 640PS, the 641PS has a second USB port that gives it enhanced direct printing capabilities.
