Poor Design Creates Inconvenience and Many Ink Cartridge Purchases
7 October 2014
Summary: I am very unhappy with this printer and could not in good faith recommend it to anyone. Most of the other reviewers on Amazon complain about its primary drawback: when it runs low on any one type of ink (which, frankly, does not take very long), it prevents you from printing anything until that ink cartridge is replaced. This means that you can't print even if you have other full ink cartridges and you would be willing to print from them.
Summary: You'd better have a lot of money for ink. I printed a nozzle check page like you're suppose to and it locked up telling me that I needed to replace the cayan, magenta & yellow cartridges as they were low and it couldn't recognize them $60.00 later same thing as soon as they were installed with photo black another $20.00 later as soon as I just install it the regular black is low and can't recognize it. I'm thinking it may be going back.
The low ink warnings are annoying and, in some cases

Summary: This is by far the most frustrating printer I have ever used. The low ink warnings are annoying and, in some cases, it will not allow you to print a black and white sheet because one of the color inks is low. I am switching back to my 10 year old HP printer. What a waste of my time and money. The only way to enjoy this printer is to have a heavy supply of ink cartridges on the ready. Oh, and I probably print maybe once a week, at most. Add that to the list of complaints.
Excerpt: The Epson ink cartridges tend to clog and require cleaning, which uses a LOT of ink. My previous Epson printer had the same issue, but I thought it was due to age. Apparently not. This is the last Epson printer I will buy. I've never had this problem with my HP printers.

Summary: I purchased this printer so my mother could airprint from her ipad and iphone. It took a long time to install on the computer (hers happens to be an Acer laptop with Vista on it (uhhhg). I installed it to work wirelessly and it did with the Acer. I've tried multiple times to get aiprint to work and it did appear as an available printer on both our iphone and her ipad for about ten seconds then it disappears.
Summary: The reason for giving it 2 stars, is that it prints horizontal lines on the darkest shaded areas. I've replaced the photo black, used epsons premium photo paper and had the relevant settings... but still no good. I bought this one because i have another epson (R3000) and a'lot of paper, but i think this will be the last one. I found similar models significantly cheaper elsewhere, but went with amazon because of previous good experiences.
Summary: I may have had a bad experience but new out of the box the printer printed lines across anything I printed. I tried head cleaning etc and then called Epson to get advice. I was told initially that the printer was faulty and given an email address to contact. Having made contact, I was told to do a head clean which I did, again. This still did not work. It took about 6 cleans to get the thing working and then I had run out of ink in the process.
If it actually printed then its good - but it didn't after two printers!!!

Summary: Yes its a good little printer, have had Epson for a few years now and have always liked them but with this one it just didn't want to print, TWICE!!! First time around it printed the test page etc ok, then printed a couple of photo's and was surprised how crisp they were colour wise. The following day went to print a letter and nothing came out in black what so ever, done the usual clean, check etc then it worked fine.
