Poor Design Creates Inconvenience and Many Ink Cartridge Purchases

Summary: I am very unhappy with this printer and could not in good faith recommend it to anyone. Most of the other reviewers on Amazon complain about its primary drawback: when it runs low on any one type of ink (which, frankly, does not take very long), it prevents you from printing anything until that ink cartridge is replaced. This means that you can't print even if you have other full ink cartridges and you would be willing to print from them.
Excerpt: Sorry , this printer is a waste of money and ink. Printer does not recognize their own ink cartridges. Epson 810 is a way better option all way around. Not recommended for printing, maybe scanning,.,., i should spend the extra money for a better model,.,.
Summary: You'd better have a lot of money for ink. I printed a nozzle check page like you're suppose to and it locked up telling me that I needed to replace the cayan, magenta & yellow cartridges as they were low and it couldn't recognize them $60.00 later same thing as soon as they were installed with photo black another $20.00 later as soon as I just install it the regular black is low and can't recognize it. I'm thinking it may be going back.
Excerpt: Sorry love the Epson products but this printer xp600 is the worst. I buy ink all the time it bleads over and you have to clean print heads every other day which uses more ink. I expect alot more from an Epson product the Performance and the quality needs improvement.
Excerpt: After hearing great things about Epson printers, I finally got one, albeit a cheaper model. I have had two of my 600s replaced due to clogged nozzles. This is not a machine you can use infrequently due to the nozzle clogging issue. It eats ink like crazy because you have to do a nozzle cleaning too often. I rarely use it, yet I constantly have to replace cartridges. For an inexpensive machine it is expensive to run. I won't buy another one.
Excerpt: I am very disappointed in this printer. I thought it would be as good as the Epson Artisan 835 only smaller so would be more portable. It has streaks intermittently throughout the printed sheet. It will only print when it feels like it. It keeps saying that "it can't find the printer." I get so frustrated that I finally give up on trying to print something. We use Epson paper & ink (which is more expensive) & we have an Apple computer, so don't know what the problem is.
The low ink warnings are annoying and, in some cases

Summary: This is by far the most frustrating printer I have ever used. The low ink warnings are annoying and, in some cases, it will not allow you to print a black and white sheet because one of the color inks is low. I am switching back to my 10 year old HP printer. What a waste of my time and money. The only way to enjoy this printer is to have a heavy supply of ink cartridges on the ready. Oh, and I probably print maybe once a week, at most. Add that to the list of complaints.
Excerpt: I'm so disappointed in this printer. If I choose "draft" under one of the print options, the quality is miserable - even if the cartridges are nearly new. And constant nozzle cleaning eats up more ink.
