Summary: It seems that as printer technology advances, printers get worse. The quality of my Workforce 1100 isn't nearly as good as previous Epson printers. The print quality on the 1100 is good, for a 4-color printer. It frequently makes snapping/banging noises, like something is breaking inside. Not sure what this is, but it's still working. The biggest disappointment is it's inability to print envelopes reliably. Plan to destroy 20% of your envelopes if you try it.
Summary: It prints too fast and for me being a visual artist and silkscreen hobby man, that is not what I am used to with an inkjet printer. I want my positives transparency film output to be as dark as possible. I have produced some fine positives with this printer but my halftone gradients are not coming out as dark as I would like.
Summary: One the plus side, the finished product from this printer looks fantastic. That, unfortunately, is the only thing on the plus side. It is very slow, and uses up so much ink. It is designed to use 2 black ink cartridges so that you can change less frequently. The added print time is so minimal that it isn't even worth it. As for the high-yield cartridges, they print maybe 50 pages more than the regular yield.
Summary: I HAVE NEVER OWNED A PRINTER BEFORE AND WAS SHOCKED AT HOW EXSPENSIVE THE WORKFORCE 1100 IS . $40.00 FOR A PACK OF INK (ONLY FOUR OF THE COLORS) I WANT TO PRINT PHOTOS BUT THE MACHINE RUNS OUT OF INK AFTER A FEW PRINTS , HAS TO CLEAN OFTEN WHICH CAUSES WASTED INK. IT IS EMBARRASSING THAT THE EPSON COMPANY IS SO CHEAP WITH THE QUANTATY OF INK THEY GIVE. THE MACHINE REFUSES TO USE MANUFACTURED INK WHICH MAKES ME REALLY DISLIKE EPSON EVEN MORE.
Summary: The printer has good reviews. My HP quit in the middle of a job so I searched for a replacement. I chose anEpson wide format Workforce 1100 after reading customer reviews. The printer came delivered in the colorful Epson printer box inside a second Amazon supplied cardboard box. The outer box was a bit roughed up at the corners but in decent shape. Good move Amazon. Unfortunately the printer did not work out of the box.
Summary: We use this printer only for printing pdf building plans at 13x19". It makes great prints and has not presented any problems as of yet. For the money you probably can't go wrong. Update: Printer suddenly failed after one year and seven days. Seven days out of warranty. Probably printed 150 13x19 plans in that period. Spent an afternoon reinking, rebooting, unplugging, trying another computer, and emailing epson etc.
Summary: I like the printer overall for the quality of the print. However, there are 2 major cons. The size of the unit, and the setup. Based on the setup instructions, the unit needs to be connected in, loaded with toner, and powered up, and software installed in a specific order. (i.e. it's not just plug and play) It took about 20 to 30 minutes to set up the unit. The overall speed is "ok", but not wonderful, and the unit is huge.
