Excerpt: I have had this printers for about 2.5 years. It is a superb printer but with the clog problems mentioned often. Here is what I am doing to mitigate the problem. Every few weeks I remove the cartridges and shake them.
Summary: I bought the 4900 in 2012. 2 weeks ago after 1400 plus beautiful prints it stopped printing ink. It started with one color and just kept going until zero colors when doing the nozzle check. I did everything Epson told me to do plus took some advice and did some at home tricks with windex.
Excerpt: We've had one of these for a year not and are now upgrading the other machine in that lab. At a year in it is still running great and far fewer issues than our prior 4880's. The switch between matte and photo black drains a lot of ink, if they could find a way to resolve that, 5 stars.
Summary: First off, the bad stuff. Do not buy this printer unless you are willing to assume the cost of maintenance, both in time and/or money. This is a heavy duty printer designed to be run hard day after day...
Excerpt: I took delivery of this printer about two weeks ago, so these are initial impressions only. Overall, I'm quite pleased. The first thing you need to know about the 4900 is that it is big and heavy. It weighs in at over 120 pounds.
Pros: Easy To Set Up, Excellent Print Quality
Cons: Large Footprint, Pricey Replacement Ink, Slow Operation
