Excerpt: The Epson Stylus Pro 3800 is at the low end of Epson's Stylus Pro product line, but still can handle 17 inch wide paper and media. We look at it to see how it stacks up as a photo printer- and how it compares to higher end printers in the same product...
Summary: If you are a professional photographer or serious amateur looking to reproduce your work at large sizes and with extremely high quality, the Epson Stylus Pro 3800 Standard Model is a great printer. You get speed, quality, and efficiency at a good price, even when you factor in the swapping of the matte and photo black inks.
Epson’s Stylus Pro 3800; A New Look In 17” Wide Printers
1 February 2001
Excerpt: Having worked with and tested the Epson Stylus Pro 4800 (Shutterbug, November 2005 issue, or type Epson 4800 in the Search box on our homepage at www.shutterbug.com) I can attest to the fidelity and quality of the Epson UltraChrome K3 inks and to the reliability of this wide format, 17" wide printer. But there were two complaints I had about the printer, which I believe were shared by others.
Summary: The print quality is very good as would be expected from a printer of this class and it also has a high build quality. The prints are well balanced and have a nice saturation of colour. Lightfastness is 75 years for colour prints and over 100 years for black and white as long as the images are not subjected to sunlight.
Pros: Large capacity ink tanks, Thicker paper capacity, Automatic ink switching for best results
Excerpt: There's a huge jump, both in size and price, from 13" wide printers to large format printers that can handle 17" or wider media. The new Epson Stylus Pro 3800 is an interesting addition to the Epson line-up that straddles the size and cost lines. Rather than replacing the existing Stylus Pro 4800, the Epson 3800 is designed to be a cost effective option for those that don't need the volume printing or roll feed options that the 4800 model provides.
Excerpt: At first glance, the Epson Stylus Pro 3800 Standard Model looks out of place in the photo printer market. There are a few very good photo printers with similar features that cost much less than the Epson's £999, and some excellent industrial-strength printers with richer sets of features starting at a few-hundred pounds more.
Summary: An affordable high-performance, large format inkjet printer for serious enthusiasts and professional photographers.Designed to fill the gap between the high-end enthusiast and professional printer categories, Epson's new Stylus Pro 3800 has the same print engine and ink set as Epson's professional Stylus Pro 4800 and, like its more expensive 'sister' can print up to A2 size.
Summary: A fotónyomtatókat bemutató sorozatunk utolsó darabjaként a legnagyobb, A2-nél nagyobb méretben is nyomtatni képes Epson Stylus Pro 3800 tintasugarasát vizsgáltuk. A közel fél millió Ft-ért árult termék - ahogy a Canon A3-asa - nem az extra szolgáltatásaival fog hódítani, mint inkább a nagy nyomtatási mérete és minősége miatt. A nyomtatások alkalmával a szokásos Epson minőséget tapasztaltuk, emellett azonban most sem maradt meglepetés nélkül tesztünk.
