Waste of money!

Anonymous, Newegg
11 January 2007
  • Summary: I wish I had not bought this printer. It was a waste of my money.
  • Pros: It prints.
  • Cons: All prints are to dark. I've printed both DVD's and photos. I use Photoshop CS and have let Photoshop manage the color and let the Epson software manage the color. I am printing mostly on Epson photo paper and have went through a third of a pack to get 3 or 4 acceptable prints. There is no differ...

Got money to burn?

Jason H., Newegg
22 December 2006
  • Summary: I've owned several Epson printers over the last 20 years and this will probably be my last.
  • Pros: Great quality prints!
  • Cons: Expensive ink that does not last very long. You can not print in black ink only if one color cartridge runs out.

I hate this thing. I'm done with Epson.

Daniel C., Newegg
8 August 2006
  • Pros: Works well with Epson's photo print papers.
  • Cons: Other than that, it's a waste of money. Need to print envelopes? Spare yourself the frustration. I just finished printing well over 100 envelopes (32lb. paper - well within spec.) just to get 60 good ones. This thing is going back if I don't throw it off the roof first. I'm sticking with Canon fr...

I'm so disappointed

Alfonso Gumucio, Amazon
21 April 2006
  • Summary: I replaced my old EPSON Stylus 600 with the R800 because I thought it was of greater quality. Actually, the results are terrible: prints are too dark and the colour changes. I've tried everything to make prints that look just as the photos on my screen, but nothing works.

  • Summary: Uses lots of ink. Still can't get envelopes to feed properly. Should have gotten another Canon.

Pretty pictures for a pretty penny!

William Hoffman, Amazon
21 April 2006
  • Summary: Great output that will output you to the poor house. Use it only for high quality photo output that you must have right now! But don't throw away your old b&w laser printer. With the high cost and short life of these Epson ink cartridges, you don't want to use this device as a utility printer for...

Too many operational issues

Ansel Arbus, Amazon
21 April 2006
  • Summary: This printer prints an excellent print, but there are just too many frustrating issues inherent in it's operation; I have never had so many "Media Loaded Incorrectly" warnings come up to stop my printing.

Printer Pain

D. Johnson, Amazon
21 January 2006
  • Summary: This is my second R800 from Epson and I like the high quality prints but I am forever cleaning the print heads and buying more ink cartridges; very simply the printer should be free for you will buy it many times over in ink!

A tale of two cities

Clarabelle, Amazon
21 January 2006
  • Summary: When I first bought this printer I was thrilled with the quality of prints. I still am when it is working properly. After a year or two, I started getting purple-ish smudging across the top of my paper.

Super expensive to operate

Michael Hedderich, Amazon
