Not Yet Ready for a Prime Time Review.

Summary: You probably do not want a review from me until I can get a decent print out of this machine. Too bad it just doesn't print well right from the start. I'm giving it the benefit of the doubt because I'm hoping it is so vastly capable that I just haven't chosen the right options yet. I miss my old Epson printer and very much wish the the Print Settings window looked the same on an iMac as it did in Windows XP.
Summary: If I had written a review a year ago, I'd had given the R3000 5 stars. It is fast, quiet and makes really nice prints. However, it's started dropping blobs of black ink on my prints. I find that doing a nozzle check and multiple head cleanings fixes the problem for a while. But not long. I'm going through ink like crazy and am never sure what sort of print the R 3000 will give me. Am glad to see I'm not the only one with this problem.
Black ink waste and Epson Support make this a deal breaker...

Summary: First of all the R3000 prints beautifully. The options of photo and matte blacks are a useful convenience, but as many reviews state waste lots of ink in the switch and even more when the machine purges after replacing an empty ink cartridge. These are known issues and if you are willing to pay for the ink waste then this printer is amazing.
Summary: I put my first R3000 in service 10/2011. Epson swapped that one out while under warranty during 10/2012. The replacement had similar problems. The print head leaks black ink on my prints and ruins them at unpredictable times. My warranty is over and my R3000 is now a fixture in my storage closet as I have moved on to a competitive printer that has put a smile on my face.
Summary: I purchased this printer to augment my Stylus Pro 7900 -- so I could print smaller sizes, greeting cards etc. I spent hours trying to get the printer to feed the Inkpress 7x10 greeting cards -- sometimes it would load and print, but mostly it just spit out the paper. Now, after 30 min. on the phone with tech support, I have learned that the main top feeder can't take paper stock over 10mil. What?! Most quality photo stock is >10 mil.
Summary: " Great expectations were dashed when trying to calibrate with Photoshop, Aperture on a Mac. I followed all instructions, asked for help, rebooted drivers and still getting dark off colour prints. Should it really be this difficult?
