Excellent quality prints

Beth Humma, Amazon
29 July 2014
  • Summary: I had my R3000 for around 3 years. All features worked very well. Excellent quality prints. Quiet. Perfect in every way. Why only 2 stars? Recently the printer started to drip black ink blobs that would smear across the paper - literally thick wet blobs of ink. Of course my machine is out of warranty. Epson tech team has alway been excellent for support; they recommended I call their local approved repair shop.

Disappointed !

Anonymous, Epson
23 July 2014
  • Summary: I read all the reviews and talked with some professional photographers and decided to buy this model. I have been very disappointed. No where did it mention that this printer is extremely slow to print. I am printing fine art prints that I can only load one piece of paper manually at a time and it takes 1/2 hour to print 1 13 x 19 inch print. I would never have bought this printer if I had know these 2 facts.

Serious nozzle problem

ImageMaker, Epson
8 July 2014
  • Summary: This was a spectacular printer when it was working. But the black ink nozzles clogged frequently and eventually deposited black blobs of ink on the edges of the paper. Because I liked the quality of the prints, I took the printer to an authorized repair shop, where they replaced the print head, at considerable expense. They (and I) thought that would take care of the problem.

Not for occasional printing

Middle Age Guy "Bumpy", Amazon
22 December 2013
  • Summary: I bought the R3000 22 months ago. The print quality is fantastic - but I've printed only 15 of the 20 sheets of 8 1/2 x 11" paper that came in a bundle with the printer and I'm out of one ink and low on most others. Epson charges $150 for just the color inks and over $280 for the full set - so I'm paying at least $10 per 8 1/2 x 11" sheet and maybe more like $15 (and I've printed mostly smaller prints, so a fair amount of whitespace on those sheets).

Not Yet Ready for a Prime Time Review.

milescaper, Epson

  • Summary: You probably do not want a review from me until I can get a decent print out of this machine. Too bad it just doesn't print well right from the start. I'm giving it the benefit of the doubt because I'm hoping it is so vastly capable that I just haven't chosen the right options yet. I miss my old Epson printer and very much wish the the Print Settings window looked the same on an iMac as it did in Windows XP.

GOOD AND NOT SO MUCH

meddykay, Adorama

  • Excerpt: If I had written a review a year ago, I'd had given the R3000 5 stars. It is fast, quiet and makes really nice prints. However, it's started dropping blobs of black ink on my prints. I find that doing a nozzle check and multiple head cleanings fixes the problem for a while. But not long. I'm going through ink like crazy and am never sure what sort of print the R 3000 will give me. Am glad to see I'm not the only one with this problem.

Dissappointed

Adorama
14 July 2013
  • Excerpt: After 19 months the printer leaves black smears of ink randomly on all prints. Epson said print head was bad. Replacement of the print head by Epson costs just as much to buy a new printer. Epson should take a cue from canon and have user replaceable print heads. While it worked for its very short life it was great, but now it is just a very expensive paper weight.
  • Pros: Easy To Set Up
  • Cons: Too much ink used, Unreliable
