Epson Stylus Photo R2400

PC Magazine
4 October 2006
  • Conclusion: The Epson Stylus Photo R2400 is the first printer to use Epson's new UltraChrome K3 ink technology. With the right paper, the K3 inks yield superb photos that are also waterproof, smudgeproof, and of archival quality.
  • Pros: Photos are superb, with sizes of up to 13 by 44 inches. Photos are smudgeproof and long lived, with a claimed lightfastness of more than 100 years.
  • Cons: Different black ink cartridges for different types of paper mean you may have to change cartridges repeatedly.

  • Excerpt: The R2400 is big but the trays fold away nicely so you should be able to get it in position with the minimum of hassle. Epson has spent plenty of time deciding where the line should be drawn in terms of print speed and the R2400 clocks in at 6 minutes 55 seconds for a borderless A3+ size print and 3 minutes 22 seconds for a borderless A4. This printer produces saturated, high contrast results and is good for punchy landscapes and other high contrast images.

Epson Stylus Photo R2400

PhotoReview

  • Summary: The first desktop printer with Epson's new UltraChrome K3 ink set, the Stylus Photo R2400 produces long-lasting, exhibition-quality colour and monochrome prints. This latest set of pigment inks delivering much richer colours and a wider colour gamut than Epson's previous ink sets and can match - and on some papers, better - the performance of printers with top-quality dye inks. . .
