Summary: Received this product in a timely fashion. But when all plugged in it began to flash red and signaled that a connection was not achieved. I could not load the inks and sent the machine back to the seller.
Expensive to Buy and Feed; Unspectacular Performance
20 March 2010
Summary: This was far from a cheap printer when I bought it a couple years ago. It was like $250. The six ink cartridges are supposed to give better color rendition - to me, all they provide is a better bottom line for Epson. The printer goes through cartridges extremely quickly. I have never been able to get it to properly print envelopes, a very simple and straigthforward task that my previous Epson Stylus C-80 (much less expensive) did easily.
Summary: It should be noted that this printer will not work if any of the six ink cartridges runs out. I tried everything to get it to print, including cleaning all nozzles, and got nothing. I went to the basement and found my old HP 932C, which had sat unused for AN ENTIRE YEAR, and hooked it up to finish the job I was working on when the Epson threw its fit. The HP printed just fine, no problem. That should tell you everything you need to know.
Summary: I have had this for a year. I have had to reinstall the software several times. The last time I had to call customer service and spent time that I did not have on a problem as simple as the inability to reset the memory on the operating system.
Summary: I purchased this printer for a few reasons. I loved the idea of only replacing the ink that is needed. I loved the cost of the printer and the cost of the ink. It prints directly on CDs. Now, I'm going to tell you why these are NOT good traits. Replacing only the ink that is needed would be great if you could continue printing without the other ink colors. For example, I was printing a business report that was due early in the morning and it was late at night.
Summary: You get what you pay for! 200 means the amounts of Disks it will print before failure, the Plastic Disk shelve that you need to feed into the printer is not well designed. The flexible plastic wings bend and wear I'm at my wits end and am looking for another method to print my disks Stay away fro this poorly made product.
Summary: Regular run of the mill printing is ok Photo printing is awful. Colors mush, Prints too red. Hard to set up with Photoshop calibrated screen. Too many 'settings' in their preferences. Do not buy this. The first Epson 880 we had was marvelous. It had only 4 inks yet printed the best 8x10s you ever saw. This is not a good buy. Inks too expensive, Hard to install inks at first. Cleaning nozzels was ineffective. Bought a Canon and tossed this in the Good Will.
