Summary: When my Epson R220 printer died, I needed to replace it or get a different printer that could print labels on printable CD's and DVD's. Since I had the R220 installed on four computers and had purchased several ink cartridges, it was cost-effective to replace the printer with another of the same...
Summary: I could not believe it when I read other reviews, that the printer will refuse to print Black & white if one of the 5 color cartridges runs out of ink. All of my other printers (HP, Samsung, Lexmark) will print B&W even if the color ink runs out.

Summary: DO NOT BUY EPSON PHOTO R220!! PLEASE READ ALL Reasons: 1. Approx in one year a window will pop up & message will "EXACTLY" state, "Parts inside your printer are at the end of their service life. See your printer documents".
Summary: I have used third party inks from Print Country for 5 months now with great results. Many vendors out there sell replacements for ~$5 or even $4 as opposed to the $15-20 ea. for name brand. Of course, all are likely not the same.
Pros: I replaced a CANON PIXMA printer with this one (after I ruined the PIXMA with inferior refill inks - my bad). Relative to the CANON printers I have owned, the R220 seems more reliable and less finickey. Print quality after 7 months remains high.
Cons: There are several small irritations with this one. 1. Low ink warnings start at 20% remaining, effectively pushing you to prematurely replace cartridges. 2. Printer driver software seems to promote EPSON products at every opportunities. 3. Printer won't print if driver thinks there is an empty ca...
Summary: I feel that this is one of the best printers around for the price. i bought mine almost a year ago. i have used the staples brand paper and i see almost no difference from epson brand. photos look great, i have been using third party ink from e bay. but i will probably get som epson ink soon.
Pros: Direct CD/DVD printing. great picture quality.
Cons: Expensive ink, epson wanting you to buy their brand paper.
Summary: I have had no problems with this printer. I purchased the refillable cartridges from alotofthings.com and am able to refill the cartridges with ease. I have purchased a second one to set up at my office where we use a tremendous amount of ink with a Continuous Ink System.
