Excellent Replacement Printer

John, Amazon
7 April 2013
  • Summary: When my Epson R220 printer died, I needed to replace it or get a different printer that could print labels on printable CD's and DVD's. Since I had the R220 installed on four computers and had purchased several ink cartridges, it was cost-effective to replace the printer with another of the same...

I will never buy an EPSON product again

Paul Gardyasz, Amazon
24 December 2008
  • Summary: I could not believe it when I read other reviews, that the printer will refuse to print Black & white if one of the 5 color cartridges runs out of ink. All of my other printers (HP, Samsung, Lexmark) will print B&W even if the color ink runs out.

Decent Photo Printer

Anonymous, Newegg
11 September 2006
  • Summary: I have used third party inks from Print Country for 5 months now with great results. Many vendors out there sell replacements for ~$5 or even $4 as opposed to the $15-20 ea. for name brand. Of course, all are likely not the same.
  • Pros: I replaced a CANON PIXMA printer with this one (after I ruined the PIXMA with inferior refill inks - my bad). Relative to the CANON printers I have owned, the R220 seems more reliable and less finickey. Print quality after 7 months remains high.
  • Cons: There are several small irritations with this one. 1. Low ink warnings start at 20% remaining, effectively pushing you to prematurely replace cartridges. 2. Printer driver software seems to promote EPSON products at every opportunities. 3. Printer won't print if driver thinks there is an empty ca...

Very good photo printer

Travis D., Newegg
10 July 2006
  • Summary: I wasn't expecting this to be better than my other more expensive photo printer, but it is!
  • Pros: Photo printing quality is just as good as my other printer, if not better. CD/DVD printing. I purchased this mainly to print DVD titles.
  • Cons: Uses lots of ink. Cartridges are expensive. Prints somewhat slow, but for such high quality printing, I don't care! Takes about 20 seconds sometimes to start printing.

Great Printer for the money

Rex, rakuten
6 July 2006
  • Summary: I have had no problems with this printer. I purchased the refillable cartridges from alotofthings.com and am able to refill the cartridges with ease. I have purchased a second one to set up at my office where we use a tremendous amount of ink with a Continuous Ink System.
