Summary: I already was lucky to own an R1900 so purchased this one to have as a back up. If you want a 13" top quality printer that gives you the longevity of Pigment inks and the punchy color of a dye based printer, this is the printer for you. Highly recommended!
Summary: I use this printer for both plain paper and photo printing. It does an excellent job at both. So far for photos, I've only printed on premium glossy paper and I'm very satisfied with the results. Color and clarity are very, very good. The largest size print I've done so far is 8x10 and the speed is satisfactory. Its slightly faster than the HP unit that I had before it broke down.
Summary: I am using this printer under Linux. Before I go back to what this printer is, IMHO, let me re-cap, for the few Unix users out there: * O/S Variant: Gentoo Linux, It really doesn't matter. * Connectivity: USB, and USB only. T * Spooler: CUPS, version 1.4.5. PPD file is the standard cups Gutenprint "driver" for this exact printer. * I tried the Epson/Avasys ESC/P-R driver and managed to re-compile the package.
Summary: Printer puts out amazing pictures. It is also faster than I expected it to be after reading reviews where people complained about the print speed. My only complaint is the lack of networking capabilities on the printer but other than that it is a great photo printer
Summary: I'm admittedly biased to Epson printers as their hardware and software (drivers) offer the best quality on the market, but they've taken the R1800 and made it even better with the R1900. The R1900 is the ONLY pigment printer currently on the market that can create believable glossy prints. I'm not sure why Epson hasn't gone the gloss optimizer route on their more expensive models like the 3880, 4800, 9800, etc.
