Excellent quality prints, but an ink guzzler / waster
Leigh A. Wax "Leigh-a", Amazon

Summary: I've gotten consistently excellent print quality with this printer, but the ink costs are exorbitant; $0.019 per SQ" / $1.50 for an 8X10, at current Epson prices. Epson has built-in methods of wasting ink, such as when replacing one ink cartridge, the printer charges all the cartridges, unnecessary waste considering that each cartridge has a chip that could be configured to charge only the one that's been replaced.
Great Printer - When It's Working And Once You Learn How To Use It
Mrs. Langers, Amazon
29 September 2008
Summary: I bought this printer in March of 2008 so the one I have is about 6 months old now. I use it primarily to create art prints on photo rag paper. I have been very impressed with the print quality and once I figured out how to work with ICC profiles, impressed with the colors I was getting from it as well. I was looking forward to testing it out with different types of paper. However, it recently started showing banding throughout my prints.
Summary: I bought the r1900 after having two r1800's the print quality is barely an improvement despite the extra orange ink and it performs particularly badly on Matt papers. The biggest problem by far is the sheer use and waste of ink especially the gloss optimiser which is always running out, even when printing A4 letters. I would really like that explained to me. Sometimes I put a brand new gloss optimiser cartridge in and its run out inside two prints.
Summary: DOES NOT AND WILL NOT PRINT ON OFFICIAL EPSON CANVAS! DONT' WASTE 2 DAYS (I LITERALLY DID) TRYING TO GET IT TO WORK. IT WONT. ITS ALSO EXPENSIVE TO RUN. I WOULD RATHER PAY MORE FOR A PRINTER THAT WILL WORK AND IS NOT UNRELIABLE. IT WORKED GREAT UNTIL I TRIED CANVAS PRINTING. THATS WHEN WE FELL OUT. HAD OVER 13MONTHS AND WONT PRINT AT ALL. EPSON DONT CARE.
