List All 22 PricesThere are plenty of options in the printer driver, crucially including ones so that non-Epson papers that come with their own profiles - like fine art papers - can be used for best results. The results using three different types of Epson's own papers and the profiles for each one, were wildly different. The glossy paper was frankly poor, but the Premium semi-gloss and the matt paper (within certain parameters) were fine with plenty of detail and good colours. Read more
The USB-based printer sets up in a jiffy. The six ink cartridges (black, cyan, magenta, yellow, light cyan, and light magenta) snap into place, and a single CD installs the print driver, CD-printing software, and manual. A second disc includes Adobe Photoshop Elements 4.0 for the Mac, a $100 value. The Stylus Photo 1400 has one top-loading paper tray and a front-loading slot for printing on discs. Read more
Long ago, Epson made the photographer's friend - the 1290 printer. This A3 edge to edge design was so well received, Epson kept it going long past the usual life cycle of a printer product. Will its replacement - the Epson Stylus Photo 1400 - do as well? Whoa yes! Read more
Epson's new dye-based 13-inch printer has style and prints large photos, but its black-and-white prints are less than perfect. Read more
TEST PRINTS In maximum quality mode, the Epson 1400 is slow for a dye-based printer, taking 11m 16s to produce a borderless A3+ print, compared with the Pro9000 's 4m 25s. That's akin to the print speeds of pigment-based printers, but unlike the Pro9000 , it doesn't slow down in greyscale-printing mode. However, our black-and-white test images were too dark in greyscale, and we found it better to use regular colour mode, especially as colour casts were quite minimal. Read more
I've only had this printer for about a month, but so far it has lived up to my expectations with Epson. I've owned a half dozen Epson printers in the past and currently own 3. I was looking for a printer to make 11x14 to 12x18 prints and this one was priced right. So far the prints have been superior and the printer easy to set up and use. My only complaints are: 1) It uses a great deal of inks, especially the light cyan, light magenta, and yellow. Read more
The new Epson Stylus Photo 1400 is a A3+ six-colour photo printer that replaces the very popular Epson 1280/1290 model, which is a very old printer by today's standards. Although it does a great job with color prints, the 1280/1290 has been due for an update for some time now. With an outward appearance similar to the current R1800 and R2400 desktop printers, the Epson Stylus 1400 is a very nice update to the older models. Read more
If you're buying primarily to print photographs larger than A4, the Stylus Photo 1400 is an excellent choice. It produces very high-quality photographic output and although it's not particularly fast or cheap to run, it sits in the middle of the market. Plain paper print isn't so good, but if that's your chief need, there are four-colour office printers that will suit you better. Read more

Epson's Stylus Photo 1400 won our Best Buy award last year, thanks to its low price and excellent photo quality. It takes the same six cartridges as Epson's R285 and R360. Like the R285, we had problems with the default colour profile. Despite its strong performance last year, it doesn't stand up too well against the latest A3 photo printers. The 6x4in photos looked great once we adjusted our colour profiles. Read more
The printer was a breeze to set up. It takes a little getting used to how to operate for the various sizes of photo paper, expecially since I was very fimilar with a HP printer. Overall, I think that this printer is Fantastic. Read more
I purchased this printer to print out large size posters (13 by 11). There were only a couple of wide-format printers under $300 when I was on the market (I later found out that HP launched a new wide-format printer B8550 with LCD and card readers at $300). I preferred this Epson 1400 to HP B8350 because it has higher DPI and individual ink cartridges. Printing out tens of photos and posters, I have been somewhat satisfied with it but have a couple of concerns. Read more
Excellent Print Quality!. The printer is affordable, but the ink is expensive. The ink prices are dropping though. I've used this mainly for printing on discs, but it does great paper prints too! Read more
The first one of these printers I tried printed everything in green. I spent numerous hours trying to figure out the problem and used my smaller printer as a comparison. nothing worked. everything was green. Then.. Thank god the printer just stopped working. Several weeks later Itried this printer again. and now I have a purple line printed on all my pictures. the line appears about 1/8 inches from the top of the picture. Read more

It uses just enough ink to make a nice photo, and given the $$$ savings and better quality than $8 for an 8x10 from boxmart, it's worth it. Helps to make a proof page with multiple photos to check the exposure and color before making full sized ones. Duh. Read more
I BOUGHT IT FOR A FRIEND IN THE MINISTRY WHO WILL LIKE TO BE USING IT TO PRINT ON THE SUNDAY SERMON CDS. HE RESIDES IN AFRICA. HE HAS NOT GOTTEN IT YET TO TELL ME ABOUT THE PERFORMANCE. I BOUGHT IT BASED ON THE RATING AND REVIEW OF PREVIOUS BUYERS OF THE PRINTER. I AM PRETTY SURE IT WILL PERFORM. Read more or see product
When Canon discontinued my previous model and parts were no longer available, I was lost. So few printers nowadays can print iron-on transfer materials, cardstock, envelopes, and labels. I do all these with the Epson Photo 1400. As far as I'm concerned, they can get rid of them troublesome all-in-one printers with their jamming feeders. When I need to do two-sided copy, I have NO issue with turning the paper over and running it through for the backside. Read more
I received the product in a timely fashion and the printer set up with no problems. I have a Windows 7 OS. I have printed out a few photos and have found some color deviation, which I hope to adjust in the printer properties. I have not attempted to print any large size prints yet. Hopefully everything will work out for the better. It is a large size printer, so be aware. Read more
Printer is quick and easy to use. Setup was simple. I did have to down load the Windows & install pack, but that was not trouble. I have printed several 13"x19" and every customer is very impressed with the quality. Even the B/W's are very nice. I am more than happy, between this printer and my Epson R280 I do very little out of shop prints. Read more

I am printing 11x17 newsletters and am worried about this printing taking too much ink up. I would be printing out about 1200 a month. Any suggestions if you don't think this is the right one?

When I print 8.5 X 11 or larger prints, I am getting a message that "This document failed to print" and only 25% to 50% of the print is actually printed. I cannot figure out what is happening. I have talked to Epson but they say the printer is OK and it is a problem with transmitting information between my computer and the printer. I have changed connector cords but still cannot get a complete print from bigger photos. This just happened recently. Any ideas?

Try to send the printer back to the store you bought it and exchange with another one, if there's still warranty on it. If not, avoid from printing large

I am having a similar problem, but no error message, and it also just happened recently: in occasional documents in both Excel and Acrobat Pro, the preview shows the image correct size on the page, yet it prints the page at about 50% in the corner. It's infuriating. i just spent hours on the phone with Epson, updated the driver, and MS Office, and ran Disk Warrior in the hopes that it would magically fix it. the tech support guy told me it couldn't be the driver, since we did a clean install, so it either has to be the printer itself or my computer (I have a MacPro.) he suggested trying installing the driver on a different printer, and if i can recreate the problem, it means it IS the printer, and i can exchange it for a new printer. But if they don't know what's wrong, and there are others out there with similar problems, the new more
