Summary: Out of the 4 of these that we bought ALL 4 DIED within a year. It seems once that jam 1 time, they always complain of no ink even when you put new ink in. I later read about a class action suit against them specific to this problem. We could have gotten some small $ back, but it wasn't worth it.
Summary: This printer uses far too much ink, won't print when any cartridges are empty, and as others have noted, will indicate that cartrdiges are empty when they still have ink in them. A total ripoff.
Summary: I've had the printer a little over 2 years now and have replaced all the ink cartridges at least 4 times (and I hardly ever print photos on this machine, just basic documents with a few color graphics here and there). It sucks ink like there's no tomorrow.
JUNK!!!! - Too bad there is no option for zero stars

Summary: Same story as many of the other reviewers. I am a graphics professional, I know how to care for my printers. Thankfully, we received this printer for free with the purchase of a Mac powerbook. It's been a year-and-a-half, maybe two years... now the print heads are clogged and won't be cleaned.
Summary: The C84 seemed like such a great deal. Only $[...] and the photo print quality is quite good--at first. But then you soon discover that the print quality declines quickly, so that you constantly have to run cleaning cycles--over and over and over--to keep the print heads from clogging.
Summary: It's not only the product that is defective, but the whole attitude of Epson company that is upsetting to me. I don't have a problem with defective products as long as the company stands behind it.
Summary: After about 2 years use, the black ink inexplicably stopped printing. The ink on the old cartridge ran out, i put in the spare I had, spare didn't work, bought a new cartridge, it didn't work. So now I am out two new cartridges (the spare and the new one).
Summary: I have been a loyal Epson ink jet user for many years. In addition to the C84, we currently operate a C42 and a photo stylus 2200. All 3 printers are used heavily for various job types. Only the C84 is problematic. Two weeks ago, the printer stopped printing black.
Summary: Had this printer for little over a year. Bought this printer because had reliable epson printers in the past. Print head were clogged and had to use very imaginable methods to unclog them, and had just installed brand new cartridge.
