Summary: I bought this printer to replace one exactly like it that I have had for years. Some functions on my old printer did not work, and every time I turn it on, I receive a message that internal parts need service. When I checked Epson's customer service, they advised replacing the printer, and from experience, I know it is not usually worth the cost of repairing printers. I bought my first one used from a friend about 6 years ago, and I know she used it a lot.
Summary: The Epson PictureMate is a fantastic printer. I love it and will soon be buying my second one because I just wore mine out by printing thousands of pictures, and didn't keep my insturctional booklet that would tell me how to fix the "click" in the box. I had another printer that I had just bought sitting right next to the Epson Picturemate and I gave up on it because in had to run the print back and forth to add the color to the picture.
Summary: WOW!!!! I purchased this printer to replace my old Picturemate (the original) that died after 4 years of hard use. I really didn't expect to see a huge difference in quality, a Picturemate is a Picturemate right? WRONG! The print speed and quality are OUTSTANDING, even better than my old picturemate! I did shop around and after visiting a couple of well known electronic and office supply stores and hearing "Oh.
Summary: I probably wouldn't have thought to buy this printer since I already have a great Epson photo printer, but I got it free as part of a promotion when I bought my latest digital camera. If I had known then what I know now, I would pay for this printer. I've printed 30-40 pictures out of this printer so far, and I've been thrilled with every single one.
Summary: This is a great printer. I had some pictures developed at my local camera shop and paid 79 cents a print to get it printed right away. Then I went home and printed the same pictures off my Snap. I thought the quality was better on my little Snap. It only costs about 25 cents a print on the Snap, plus you can do it at home. Once in a while, you have to clean the heads, but the printer does it all. You just press a few buttons.
Summary: This is a great little printer, compact and self-contained and produces fine prints. But if you're like me, who only prints occasionally and stores this printer for months, you may find that when you take it out of storage and print again, there are lines running through your prints. To avoid that, I run a head alignment first. This runs right through the middle of the sheet.
