3 stars due to speed and 4 for quality 5 stars for cost!
Hello Earth!, Amazon
26 July 2006
Summary: Not bad for the price, but far from excellent in print quality as many reviewers are raving about! Do not be fooled and realize the short comings of this printer, and it's limitations. Over all I rate it at about 4 stars, would give it 5 starts but it is very slow, see below. First of all, if you are using a computer, and not stand alone, the supplied software from Epson, Software Film Factory 3.05 is quite useless, apart from the diver.
Summary: I've had this printer for over a month now and I've printed over 100 photos from the cartridge that was provided. I am VERY happy with the quality of the photos. Not only are they sharp but the color is beautiful and saturated. AND the prints are finger print proof!! (I'm very anal about that so this is a huge plus for me.) As a photographer, they're perfect for giving away as self-promotion items.
Summary: I work in a medical facility. several of my colleagues just hand me a memory card, and ask for prints and/or saved onto the computer. i have this linked direct to my computer so i can do both jobs at once. sometimes i have to take it to rural clinics, this is so easy, just unplug and lift by the handle and off we go. it gives excellent quality prints even though my pictures can be quite gruesome.
Excerpt: The Epson Picture Mate (Mobile Phone Edition) is a small compact 10 x 15cm photo printer which is about the size of a loaf of bread (256mm (W),146mm (D),147mm (H), 2.5kg (5.5lb) in weight. Although this model has been largely superseded by other Picture Mate models it still represents a good buy, I brought mine last year on ebay for £20 and have been more than satisfied with it.
Pros: EASE OF USE, QUALITY OF PHOTO'S, COMPACT SIZE
Summary: I found that this is a great little printer and it produces good postcard sized prints which is just what I wanted. However when I ordered one for my daughter it came devoid of essential components so be advised - check your parcel before you start using it and do not be put off by Amazon stating that they cannot replace it - they can. They are always there.
Summary: I bought one of these refurbished from ebay...big mistake!! The printer arrived without any ink cartridge and being a refurb unit it had previously been used and the ink jet heads were blocked.(The manual says not to remove the ink cartridge until a replacement is ready!!) Cleaning the heads uses ink!! It took a whole cartridge to clean the heads before it could be used luckily I used a compatible ink cartridge £4.95 instead of the original £20+.

Excerpt: Printer itself is excellent and the photos that are produced are of very good quality. However, the cartridges are expensive and it is difficult to buy them without the extra photopaper, which I am sure puts the price up. I have loads of good quality photographic paper and do not need any extra paper.
