Printing Power

  • Excerpt: This was my first printer that i ever bought and i paid £99.99 for it at Dixons. I was always a fan of Epson as i liked the brand and i recall seeing the printouts produced on the epson 870 which were amazing. Printers have came down in price a lot in recent years and you can pick them up for around £15-£20 sometimes which seems really crazy consdering that you can sometimes pay up to £30 for an ink cartridge!
  • Pros: Good DPI at the time, Nice Design, Dust Cover
  • Cons: Bit bulky, Cost of ink carts

  • Excerpt: Introduction ************* A family member bought me this printer as a present for doing well on an exam that I had recently taken. At the time this printer was one of the latest around and because Epson is a well known name that was one of the first printers that was seen on the shelf so that’s how I ended up with it. So is it any good……?
  • Pros: Installation
  • Cons: Where do I begin

A Disappointment

  • Excerpt: I must say I had this printer for a few years but I wasnt completly happy with it, it came with my computer as a package deal and it wasnt too bad at first, then I started having problems with it. It had very poor quality print outs and the paper always got stuck or jammed. The printer worked fine for about 12 months, now it wouldnt print at all. Replaced ink twice both black and colour, didnt help, it was wasting very good ink.
  • Pros: Ink really cheap
  • Cons: Cheap

  • Excerpt: I originally saw this product advertised in FHM magazine as one of the best printers on the market. So I stupidly went out and bought it. When I first opened the box I thought that it looked quite good (compared to the one I had previously). The only thing that I did not like (at the time) was the cheap plastic flap that came down as the paper tray, to hold paper once the printing had finished. I persevered and stuck with it.
  • Pros: Non that i can think of
  • Cons: Ink only lasts a certain amount of time, quite flimsy

Pile of rubbish

  • Excerpt: This printer is just terrible. Poor printouts, expensive ink. The printer worked fine for about 12 months, now it won't print at all. Replaced ink twice (£60 total) and still nothing will print out. When it was working fine it would say "Out of ink" and refuse to print, when it in fact was not out of ink. It counts the number of print jobs you do - and determines when the ink is dry from that - despite how much ink you have actually used.
  • Pros: Cheap Printer
  • Cons: Ink is vastly overpriced

  • Excerpt: I bought my epson stylus color 680 about 15 months ago, i bought it for about £90 i suppose it wasnt a bad price until you have to fork out for the ink at around £25 for colour and about £15 for black ink. Its still in great working order, only problem i had with it is that if you dont use it for some time the ink doesnt work.
  • Pros: quick and easy to install
  • Cons: the lid opens just by a slight movement, paper holder support at the back comes off easily

  • Excerpt: As a general rule of thumb, I'm a big fan of Epson printers. Having worked in offices which use HP printers, and having seen how quickly they get worn out, I've always felt quite smug that my Epson purchases have performed so well. When my last printer finally spat out it's last few words and announced it was time to say goodbye, I immediately went out and purchased the closest equivalent Epson Stylus printer, the colour 680.
  • Pros: Good overall print quality
  • Cons: The new "smart chip" makes cartridges very pricey
