horrible prints on anything but premium photopaper
3 weeks ago
Summary: I need to print a lot on tabloid size paper so I bought this printer since it was one of the few wide format printers I could afford. I use standard tabloid paper for roughs and contact sheets and they are useless with this printer. Very dark and murky. I'm really disappointed the description didn't say PREMIUM PHOTO PAPER ONLY.
Summary: This printer has been nothing but a headache since purchasing. The paper/cancel and ink lights keep flashing indicating error. I reinstalled drivers as recommended, but nothing I do, as recommended by Epson, seems to work. I am returning this printer and will certainly tell my friends not to buy this printer.
Summary: Epson provides no method to change your wireless password or SSID with this printer. If you change your router/modem or change your SSID or your wireless key, the printer stops working and there is no way to get it to connect again unless you reinstall the drivers and go through the entire printer setup process again! You cannot access the SSID or wireless key settings from any menu or from any of the printer properties menus. What a waste of time.
Summary: The 1430 was a snap to bring on line as a WiFi shared printer. As with other Epson printers the color prints are excellent. We purchased this printer as a CD/DVD printer and the occasional wide format prints. As a CD/DVD printer, we would have to give low marks when compared to previous CD printers made by Epson. The CD tray has to be cleaned after 3 prints for overspray on the caddy. This causes the ink to get on the hands and sides of the CD's.
Summary: Installed product for the first time today. The product failed to operate correctly. Printed a test page. Output was faint, with lines, print characters were very poor. Contacted support. Completed diagnostics--print head alignment and nozzle cleaning. No change in the output after several prints. I was told there was a hardware problem and that the unit needed to be replaced.
Summary: Epson has removed the ability to reset your waste ink counter when it deems that your ink pads are full. In the previous 1400s, 1800 and 1900 I owned, this was a free utility provided by epson. Now, if you're not at least moderately tech savvy and/or extremely resourceful, there is no way to reset the counter without professional epson service.
Summary: I can't make it work. I had to buy another printer to get my printing done because I can't make the printer print anything. My computer recognizes the printer but nothing prints. The printer does not recognize the printer inks that came with the product.
Excerpt: Bought what I thought was a brand new Epson 1430 printer at the Wallingford Staples. It was oddly taped but whatever. .... Found no power cord in box (?) found all the ink cartridges already loaded in the printer (?). Found 3 ink carriages less than 100% full (?). Looks like I bought a returned printer. I will ask the personnel at the Wallingford Staples what happened. Stay tuned. .....
