Summary: Dell 5100cn Color Laser Printer is a big and fast color laser. It powers on quickly, ready to print in under 10 seconds. Rated print speed is accurate at 35ppm b&w, 25ppm color. Print quality is good but not great. Letters are slightly muddied at default 9.5pt, but become more defined at 12 or 14pt. Graphics are slightly grainy.
Summary: My experience with this printer has been awesome. The toner is reasonable in price and seems to last longer (more pages) than any other printer I have owned. The print quality is excellent and fast for most jobs. This printer excels at hi volume and fast printing. Photo printing is not its strongest suite. Adding extra paper drawers is a snap!
Summary: We bought this unit in the hopes that it could replace our aging Xerox Phaser 6200DN. We have purchased two of these units and have yet to get either of them working well enough to replace a 10 year old unit. I love the price for the toner and replacement parts, however, none of that matters if you can not get the system working. I have gotten the unit to print, but the image quality is poor. If you can get a new one from Dell, it maybe a good deal.
Summary: Had this unit for three years in a small business/home environment. Average use less than 1000 pages/month. Thankfully, this unit is no longer produced. I would have reated it lower except that when it did work, the color was good. Issues: Toner did not last as advertised (less than 40%). Drum/fuser did not last as advertised(less than 30%). Consumables (tomer) very expensive and only available from Dell. Very heavy - ~80 pounds lodaed with paper.
Summary: We have been using these printers for 2 years now. They were a good bargin at $1,000 in 2006, they are a steal at $500 or less now. The toner is cheap on eBay, the printers are fast, and the built in duplexer works perfectly. What they are NOT good at is fine lines and detail, these are fast bulk printers that will spit out lots of fliers, newsletters, etc. for almost nothing per page. Buying toner for $200 a set, you can print color pages for about 3 cents a page.
Summary: Print speed and duplexing are great. However, this thing must be the HUMMER of toner guzzlers making it a VERY COSTLY machine. I purchase based on expected print costs and that was a HUGE mistake. Overpriced machine. You can find better printers at better prices that cost much less to operate. Shop around.
Summary: What I love about this printer ... it is fast, gives good office quality images, photos look good, and is very inexpensive to operate. I have had mine for over a year, I have only printed about 9,000 pages, most with some color, and my color toner still shows 80% remaining and black is at 60%. Try that with an inkjet! This has MORE than paid for itself in supply savings! ...
Summary: I've had one of these in my home for a little over a year now and it's one of the best printers I've ever used. I've used it for the majority of printing jobs I do at home, small and large. If Dell made one of these with a wide carrige style I'd replace the printer in the office.
Summary: We deployed 12 of the Dell 5100cn Laser printers and never had problem one with any of them. this is the finest color laser printer we have ever used for the money we invested. Granted, we certainly could have gone for a much finer, more costly higher end model, but in the end, the sharpness, quality, PPM, and the virtual absence of maintenance has made this printer dollar for dollar the best investment in printer technology we could have ever made given the use and...
Summary: I think it is an excellent printer BUT, it is very loud and distracting. I can see that changing the empty ink is a breeze. The print quality is very good and the various adjustments are a bit of a pain.
