Summary: I liked this printer at first and actually bought two of them, both an ES30 and ES40. However, since upgrading my Mac to Mountain Lion some six months ago, they have been unusable. When one tries to download a driver at the Canon web site, one gets a message, "Content for OS X v10.8 Mountain Lion will be available soon. In the meantime, please use OS X v10.7 Lion content as a possible alternative." This message has been in place for approximately six months.
Summary: This printer is a scrap booker's dream. It is portable so you can take it to events with you or weekends. You do not need a computer so it makes it very handy. Take pictures and print them all in the same day. I love all the features, borders, calendar, journal boxes, cards etc. I purchased this item for a friend's retirement gift. She loved it!
Summary: I am very pleased with the quality of the prints produced by this photo printer. It is pretty fast, too. The print packs that it uses are super easy to install but some might find them somewhat expensive at about 25-30 cents per picture. I think it is worth it for the convenience and quality combination. The screen is awesome as well for perusing your pictures before printing. After over a year of use, it still works great!
Summary: If you plan on hooking this up to your updated Mac with the more recent Lion operating system, you will be out of luck. It won't work. [...] I used my two Selphys on an older iBook for photo booth gigs in the past. But my iBook crashed recently so I got a used MacBook with the Lion OS installed. Only to find out it won't work because Canon does not plan to update several of the Selphy printer drivers.
Summary: I liked this printer for the first 30 or so prints. Since then, I have lost several cartridges because the film ripped inside. Then, of course, the cartridge is no good and you lose those prints. Looking at all the other reviews I think I must have gotten a lemon (I think it was one of the first produced). We took the printer totally apart, repaired one of the cartridges and it still sliced the film up on the first run. I have to concede defeat and throw it out.
Summary: Gave this little printer to my parents to print pictures of their grandchildren. They are not tech savvy at all and they had no problems using this printer. Quality and print speed is good. The gears inside are very noisy though, hope it lasts. In my experience anything that has lots of gears and such won't last long. It is very entertaining to watch the machine spin the paper around though. Negative is that you can't really find the paper anywhere but online.
Summary: This printer is a great addition to our home. I have always been disappointed with traditional desk jets or ink jets for printing pictures. This little guy is ideal. I stick my favorite pictures on my SD card and have beautiful prints in just a few minutes. The ink doesn't seem to dry out, either, if I don't use it for a couple of months. I am thrilled with this purchase.
