Canon Pixma 9500 Printer. Nice but Expensive....

garyf106, Ebay
3 April 2013
  • Summary: Ink is expensive and nobody seems to stock it. i buy it on line without a problem, i just have to wait for it to come in the mail. You must use canon paper or it jams. Quality of print good but it took some finessing to get good color match from monitor to printer. I bought my printer used about one year old. When i turned it on the lights were flashing. Probably from being bounced around in the mail.

  • Pros: reliable, Easy Setup, durable, High Quality Output, easy to use
  • Cons: Slow Print Speed, Large Footprint

Very bad on ink

photo16, Canon
2 May 2012
  • Conclusion: There is no issue with the quality of the images produced by the PIXMA PRO 9500 II. For me it is an issue with ink. The ink cartridges are small and the printer cleans regularly which wastes the ink. The 'ink low' feature is not very accurate and it is difficult to tell how much ink there is left to go. So, once the 'refill ink' light comes on and you change the cartridge the printer goes through a clean process again which often puts another cartridge out of ink.

A printer I would definitely buy again.

progenitor666, Ebay

  • Summary: This is a printer I have known about for quite some time. My son purchased the PIXMA 9000 and has had great success with it. I knew from that experience I wanted the PIXMA Pro 9500 II. I was not disappointed. The quality of my prints is unsurpassed. I have read that many believe the cost of printer cartridge replacements is expensive. I disagree. The quality of the prints justifies the cost.

Definitely worth the cost.

  • Summary: Printer quality is as good as the professional prints. It is limited to 13x19, but to go any larger_ is $ 2000+. Epsom has a printer that does 13x24 or larger and I dont have experience with that one. I hope that canon will have a softwear upgrade to do the same.

Great Printer!

Tony, Canon
14 January 2011
  • Conclusion: My primary use for this printer is for creating my fine art images on archival papers. The Pro 9500 Mark II surpassed my expectations in both color and black and white reproduction. It provides the quality that I would expect from a professional printer.
  • Pros: super color and b & w
  • Cons: front loading is slow but tolerable.

Great purchase but with caveats

yojoe, Canon

  • Conclusion: After having used other large format printers this was an improvement. Easy setup, adequate footprint, aesthetically pleasant, but not 100% satisfied with output, (using built in profiles). After calibrating monitors and creating custom profiles for the papers I use...WOW! It blew me away. If you plan to use papers other than Canon's - you will need to download (if available)profiles specific to these or create them on your own.
  • Pros: Easy Setup, Good Media Handling, Small Footprint, High Quality Output, easy to use
  • Cons: High Running Cost

Not as good as I expected.

Neil., Amazon

  • Summary: I've had this printer at least a couple of years now and have not had any problems with it and can recommend it for its quality of printing. Having said that, my Canon i990 A4 printer produces slightly better quality prints when I do a direct comparison, side by side, from any photo's from my Canon 5d Mark II. At photo-fairs, etc.
