Priced at about $499, the Canon PIXMA Pro9000 is a 13x19” printer that produces beautiful color prints on a wide variety of media. And it’s one of the fastest color printers I’ve worked with, especially for working with fine art papers via its front-feed system. It can also work with thinner papers via its top-feed system, but those who will spend that amount on a 13x19” model will probably do so to work with some of the luxurious papers offered by Canon, as well as o... 3. Canon Pro9000

The PIXMA Pro9000 replaces the i9900 as Canon's top of the line 8-color, 13x19 inch photo printer using dye-based inks. Canon's other PIXMA "Pro series" 13x19 inch printer is the Pro9500, it adds two more inks, matte black and gray, and all ten of its inks are pigment-based. So what's the difference you ask?   Both are fast, capable color printers - the Pro9500 would be the best choice if you need to print gallery-grade monochromatic photos. The matte black ink pro... 1. Excellent Photo Printer

Have had this 3 weeks, and just finished using it for a print job where I needed to print ~12 8.5 x 11 prints. After I figured out the ICM color management setting on the driver, the color is really quite good, especially since I have not calibrated my monitor yet. The printer gives excellent output on Canon paper (I have only been able to find Photo Paper Plus Glossy locally so far), and reasonable results on other paper as long as you switch the setting to 'other ph... "this printer is good when it works, have had to replace printer two times due to internal failures of unit. first unit failed due to err code 5101 and took back to store(best Buy) and exchanged for another unit and got it home and would not work due to print head failure. canon only wants to replace my new unit with refurbished unit. will the third unit be bad to? Canon seems to have no shortage of refurbished units in stock." Read more

  2. Question on how often an Epson printer primes

Thanks. Yes I am very aware of the razor blade analogy all too well. I already have a Canon Pixma Pro9000 but I wanted to use this as a printer that can be a little more portable and also use it for scanning. I also saw a post that said it could not be used for scanning when even one of the ink wells goes dry. This is why I'd like to know more about the priming...

  3. printer profile vs monitor calibration profile

...e of fantastic performance in knowledgeable and experienced hands - or extremely dangerous in the wrong hands." Does that mean simply setting the camera's color space to Adobe RGB as well as in PS CS and, if I can find how to do it in Lightroom and on my Canon Pixma Pro9000 printer, will not necessarily result in a perfect color match on every print without fail? I have the monitor calibrated with Pantone Huey. What more does one need to do? (This whole experience tends to become so muddled.) Thanks for letting me vent. Anne
