Worst Canon Printer Ever!

Jeepssmith, Canon
25 April 2013
  • Conclusion: Canon 9000 Mark II is horrible. Print quality is the worst of any Canon printer I have owned. It prints with blotches and bands. I have cleaned the head and cleaned the head and cleaned the head. Still prints with blotches and bands. Would not recommend this printer. Other Canon printers that cost way less give better quality.
  • Cons: Slow Print Speed, Low Quality Output, unreliable

Be prepared to spend major money on ink

Jessie, Canon
23 November 2012
  • Conclusion: This printer is a money pit. It seems like I replace ink cartridges as often as I use the printer. Also, the ink cartridges that it says need to be replaced look half full when I take them out. Furthermore, you cannot print anything, even in grayscale, when one color runs out. I am extremely disappointed with this purchase, and surprised more people have not mentioned the exorbitant cost of ink.
  • Pros: easy to use
  • Cons: Slow Print Speed, Large Footprint, Low Quality Output, unreliable, ink! ink! ink!

So So

Pappyz, Canon
14 May 2011
  • Conclusion: Beautiful pictures, when it works I have been trying to print 4 X 6 prints for a week now. Used multiple graphics programs, searched through all options and Help files, this is the most frustrating printer I ever owned. Hooked up to 2 different computers..same result 4 X 6s come out at about 2 X 2.5 no matter what you set for paper or print size Have printed many 8.5 X 11s and they are perfect.
  • Pros: Easy Setup, High Quality Output
  • Cons: Difficult to use

Uses ink unnecessarily

Joe Consumer, Canon
22 June 2010
  • Conclusion: I have 3 printers. The output on color is the best of the three. However the excessive re-calibration of the printer causes excessive use of ink. I am happy with the finished product, but the ink usage is way out of line. On average it consumes twice as much ink (if not more) as my other machines. This could be due to the ink formula.
  • Pros: durable, Good Media Handling, High Quality Output
  • Cons: High Running Cost

Great print quality, poor reliability

Taz "dougo", Amazon
7 March 2008
  • Summary: I bought this printer to replace my Canon i9900 which was a good printer but the inks faded quickly. The pro9000 has much better fade-resistent inks (except the cartridges are smaller but still cost even more). I think this printer uses more ink in cleaning the print head than it does in printing. The real problem though, is the frequent printer lockups. The printer locks up, not Windows.

Another Printer Failure at 2 months

Erin Dawson "daweri", Amazon
2 October 2007
  • Summary: I just recently got married and bought this printer to make up some photo albums as gifts to everyone in the wedding. While the pictures print beautifully, the machine broke after only a couple months of very limited use. I called customer service and was informed that the way it was flashing indicated the machine needed to be taken in for a repair or sent back. The problem with sending it back is that you get a "refurbished" one as a replacement.

Not the printer for me.

Debbie Dibacco, Amazon
9 September 2007
  • Summary: I bought this printer based on the reviews I read. I wanted an 11X17 printer for newsletters and this fit the bill. When it arrived, it was huge, but I knew that from the reviews. I set it all up and printed about 5 pages before it stopped working (I have to say, it feels very cheap - heavy, but cheap). I wrote to Canon. Because it was still under warranty, they gave me two options. Send it back and get another or take it to a repair facility.

I loved it, but....

Craybut, Amazon
28 November 2011
  • Summary: This printer is everything others say it is. It effortlessly produces stunning images while being economical on ink and I have been totally thrilled with it. Until, yesterday, after only 18 months of moderate home use (this is sold as a "professional" model) it broke, displaying an error B200 and alternately blinking green and amber lights.
