Conclusion: This is in reference to the PIXMA Pro 1. I cannot believe how useless this printer is. When I say useless I do mean unable to use. I was unable to get quality prints from this when it was working but now that I can't even get it to update to the latest firmware and drivers my computer wont even recognize it. This printer just sits there taunting me, reminding me how much I spent for this heap. I had high hopes for this printer but those have all since been squashed.
Cons: Difficult to use, Large Footprint, Low Quality Output, unreliable, product simply doesn't work, loss of time and money trying to troubleshoot prob
Excerpt: No support at all for 11x14 inch prints. If you started with photography with a dark room you know how important 11x14 inch prints are to your business. Canon does not sell 11x14 inch paper. You have to "fool" it by printing on 13x19. In a business this is a waste. The front load is a joke at best, and time consuming. Picture quality is great, but does not make up for the paper issues. can not print borderless on fine art papers.
Pros: Sharp Tones & Colors
Cons: Front Loading Is Horrible, Hard Setup, No 11x14 Support, No Borderless On Art Pape, No Support From Canon, Unreliable
Conclusion: The printer came new with scratches, small cracks in the case - this was not from shipping, but the way it was built and shipped like that. The printer uses a lot of ink. I already replaced most of the inks once, and the inks are getting low again. I print a few sheets a week. This printer will cost you more in ink and paper supplies per month than the most expensive iPhone plan. The printer wants to cycle its head after a dozen prints, which uses up a lot of ink.
Excerpt: The Print head makes visible scratches on every photo at every quality setting. Printer Prefferences: Maintenance Tab has an option: PREVENT PAPER ABRAISION. Check this box. It cures the problem but every time you print you get a WARNING, to which you must respond by clicking on either OK or CANCEL. You can't prevent the warning from stopping the work flow. The warning advises that if you continue with Prevent Paper Abraision set; print speed or quality may be affected.
Summary: I'm generally an avid supporter of Canon gear - got lots of it. Also usually rate WEX highly. Looking at internet reviews, this printer rocks. However, in reality my old Canon iP4600 produces far better pictures than this - at a tenth of the cost. I wouldn't put pictures produced by this printer on my garage wall - very dark with loss of detail in shadows (the picture not my garage). Currently trying to resolve via Canon support.
