Mostly OK, not good for envelope printing, uses too much ink.

Summary: I've used this printer since Christmas. It prints fast. Scanning and copying are simple and fast. Much better than the HP 960 it replaced. The big minuses so far: - No matter how carefully I follow the manual directions, when I print an address on a standard #10 envelope, the print is likely to smear, particularly in the return address. Result is unprofessional-looking envelope. - Uses too much ink.
Summary: This is a nice looking printer, but be prepared to replace your ink cartridge at least once a month. If I had known how fast it would go through ink I would never have purchased this printer. My HP printer cartridges were a little more expensive, but I think in the long run I'm spending more on ink for this Canon printer as I have to change the ink every three weeks or so. I would not recommend this printer if you do even an average amount of printing.
Summary: I've had the 5220 for about a month now- I have found it to be an excellant photo printer but limited as far as a copier and very poor quality scanning. The software is very lacking, compared to the older model 4600 that this replaced. Thier videos brag about it's simplicity but I have found it to be exactly the opposite. I have re-activated my old HP 500 to do my production work.
Summary: This printer is far and away the most difficult install I have ever done with any piece of hardware. By way of background on me: I have been working in IT doing everything from Desktop/network support, UNIX sys admin, SAP Basis admin, security, etc since 1996, and have been into computers since 1980, so I have a bit of a background as a troubleshooter.
Summary: I have iMacs set up with an AirPort Extreme router. Can't get this to work wirelessly. If I plug USB into the router it will work, but it will not work with iPad. The iPad can not see it. After struggling with it for hours, I would not choose this printer again it if it were given to me!!! I am sorry I bought it, because my goal was wireless printing for my home. I am now researching several aps that appear to make my attempted upgrade unnecessary. Ugh!
