The PIXMA iP5300 Photo Printer uses the ink-jet printer technology but produces results quite similar to the laser jet technology. It has the ability to print on several types of media, such as envelops, iron-on transfers, photo paper, semi –gloss photo paper, photo stickers, DVD discs, cards, and even high resolution paper to produce any type of document needed.

The maximum size that the iP5300 Photo Printer can print is the legal size of 8.5 inches by 14 inches. Its resolution is 9600 by 2400 dots per inch. It can print black and white documents at a maximum speed of 31 pages per minute and up to 24 pages per minute for colored ones. The printer is compatible with the Mac and PC hardware platforms. It is able to do double sided printing and has a maximum paper capacity of 300. It can run using the Operating Systems Windows 98, 98SE, ME, 2000, XP, and Apple Mac OS X 10.2.8 – 10.4. It is capable of printing directly from a digital camera via USB connections.
