Summary: The ip5200 is my 5th Canon Printer. I have found them all to be reliable solid performers, and the 5200 is no exception. It is easy to set up and comes with a simple software package. Compared to my earlier Canon printers(i860, ip5000), it is faster and quieter, and prints a beautiful picture, especially on Canon paper. Only time will tell if the new inks are truly superior.
Summary: Probably one of the fastest inkjet printers around. The most positive aspect of this printer is the speed and the appearance. Like all Canon printers its built small and fast. Also prints out nice pictures. The negative would be the availability of ink. Its disimilar to the lower model inkjets from Canon in that there isn't much ink on the market specifically ebay for 5200 ink due to the fact that the ink cartridges have a little chip in them.
Summary: This review will focus on the printer's CD and DVD printing capability. Yes it can print on this type of media! I've been using these printers and an ip4200 for a very long time now and they work just fine for printing Glossy DVD jackets and printing on the DVD/CD media itself. I have not noticed any of the problems reported by other users.
Summary: This Canon printer is quite fast (even on a USB 1.1),and the colors are great. My only complaints are: Initial print takes a while with a lot of grinding noise. My printer arrived without the clip to hold the yellow ink cartridge in place.
Excerpt: Canon Pixma ip5200 I purchased this printer about three years ago now and it was not one of the latest models then. I was looking for a new printer as my all in one HP was costing a fortune in ink and I was just starting up an ebay business so I needed to be able to print invoices etc. cheaply and fairly quickly. I looked at Canon's mainly as they are one of the best known brands for doing cheaper inks.
Pros: Very cheap ink available, looks pretty good still, does the job I ask of it very well
Cons: Getting a bit old so better printers on the market for the price
Excerpt: Installation: About average in size for this kind of printer, it's very easy to install straight out of the box with clear instructions - assuming you have already bought a USB cable as none is included. The ink cartridges also seem well protected from the elements, which might help give replacements a longer shelf life.
Pros: Great print quality, flexible, easy to use .
Excerpt: I bought this printer a month ago after my epson printer C68 had broken down. I search for a different printer from the last two I had bought from Epsom. This printer was reviewed by magazines as a very good printer. I am not disappointed as the initial setup was easy to complete. The printer has two printer draws for two different sizes of paper that you can choose. The ink tank has 5 spaces (3 colour and 2 blacks).
