Summary: This is a great cheap printer. Works flawlessly. Ive had it direct connected to xp, vista, win 7, as well as to my router AND shared through a computer. Works all the time. Only time it didn't was when a power out shut it down. then it causes a pop up so you cant print remotely without pressing ok on the error saying it was not shut down properly. that may very well be common with printers...i dont know.
Excerpt: This printer is really great: the quality of pictures is astonishing, printer is small, fast and quiet, the consumables are quite cheap (and the printer itself is cheap, too!), drivers are available for Linux. The only con I can think of is lack of USB cable in the box, but I guess that's common among printers. So, my conclusion is: Canon PIXMA iP2700 is a great choice if you need a compact, fast and quiet printer for home use.
Summary: I got this printer in a bit of an emergency - so picked something cheap and cheerful. One year later, and it's still powering on, it's a very reliable machine. I have found other canon printers break quite easily but this one seems to be quite resilient. It was very easy to set up, no fuss at all. I was using it within 20 minutes of opening the box.
