Summary: The only problem is that it prints very slowly. I had this version before, and it printed much faster. When it prints the color is great. Maybe it needs to warm up a bit. Nice inexpensive printer with great instructions.
Summary: I still have this printer 6 years later. I refill my ink tank and only use black. After 5 years, I had to disassemble and clean the ink absorber pads inside the printer and reset the internal counter with a program to allow it to print so long.
Summary: If you hate spending $35 or more on printer cartridges like I did, get this unit. I can get cartridges for about $2-$5 a pop and the print quality is great. I don't print pictures on it, but I did when I get it. Picture quality is ok(from what I can remember), but for doc printing it's great!
Summary: I got this printer as part of a bundle with a new computer. I was using an Epson at the time and the cost of ink cartridges was driving me up the wall! One day, the Epson died a terrible death and I pulled the Canon Pixma iP500 out of the closet, plugged it in, the computer recognized it immediately...
Summary: I replaced my Epson RX500 ($245.00) due to $$$ ink replacement and other issues, and I love this little printer! After almost five months of steady printing I'm replacing the black ink tank for the first time (about $7). It's a little rough on the paper feed but cranks documents out quickly.
Summary: I bought the printer as an economical choice, good quality and inexpensive ink, especially from competitors. The ink is what costs. Like gas prices, I need to watch the costs. I believe this model is being discontinued. I have three. Always good to have backups.
Summary: Nice printer, works fairly quicker than my previous Canon. Only downside, as other have pointed out, is the lack of catch tray. My old ink worked just fine for this one also, didnt even need to buy a differnt type.
Summary: I picked this up for my folks after their decade old HP Deskjet wasn't loading up paper correctly. It's compact and inexpensive, and you get what you pay for. I have to second the opinion of the reviewer who mentioned low ink....
Summary: The printer was actually free after rebate with a desktop PC from Fry's. I gave it 4 stars because while it's great for the average Joe to print photos from the Canon Easy-Photoprint application, I'm having a lot of issues getting it to print from any other application, i.e. Adobe Photoshop 7.
Summary: Have been using this printer for the past 6 months. Absolutely no problems. I should admit that i have *not* printed photos with this, but i know the cartridges for this model are cheap. Prints fast, good quality print.I use this often and did not have any paper jams. A good product for the price.
