Printer works OK

Sharon L. Conn, Amazon
9 June 2014
  • Summary: The only problem is that it prints very slowly. I had this version before, and it printed much faster. When it prints the color is great. Maybe it needs to warm up a bit. Nice inexpensive printer with great instructions.

Still printing...

G. Miller, Amazon
10 November 2013
  • Summary: I still have this printer 6 years later. I refill my ink tank and only use black. After 5 years, I had to disassemble and clean the ink absorber pads inside the printer and reset the internal counter with a program to allow it to print so long. For most, it wasn't worth doing this for a cheap printer but I like a challenge (had to take it pretty far apart) and like this small simple printer.

Prints Great and saves tons of money!!

AVMann "Prosumer", Amazon
25 December 2008
  • Summary: If you hate spending $35 or more on printer cartridges like I did, get this unit. I can get cartridges for about $2-$5 a pop and the print quality is great. I don't print pictures on it, but I did when I get it. Picture quality is ok(from what I can remember), but for doc printing it's great!

A Very Decent Printer For The Price!

Rob W. "Sounddude™", Amazon
8 December 2008
  • Summary: I got this printer as part of a bundle with a new computer. I was using an Epson at the time and the cost of ink cartridges was driving me up the wall! One day, the Epson died a terrible death and I pulled the Canon Pixma iP500 out of the closet, plugged it in, the computer recognized it immediately and it's been printing happily ever since. This is a very decent printer for around $50.00. I've not printed any photos with it.

  • Summary: This is a good printer, I would recommend it only if you don't want high quality photos.
  • Pros: small, easy to install, many different settings to choose from, inexpensive ink
  • Cons: only fair quality photos, uses ink very quickly

4 stars for a $50 printer

S. Shinkle, Amazon
25 November 2005
  • Summary: I replaced my Epson RX500 ($245.00) due to $$$ ink replacement and other issues, and I love this little printer! After almost five months of steady printing I'm replacing the black ink tank for the first time (about $7). It's a little rough on the paper feed but cranks documents out quickly. Photo quality is average for the price of this unit. However, compared to the enormous costs of the Epson ink tanks, this Canon has already paid for itself.

PixmaiP1500 Photo Printer

G. Buell, Amazon
23 September 2005
  • Summary: I bought the printer as an economical choice, good quality and inexpensive ink, especially from competitors. The ink is what costs. Like gas prices, I need to watch the costs. I believe this model is being discontinued. I have three. Always good to have backups. Two are used in business, one for my daughter in College.

Canon PIXMA iP1500 Photo Printer

A. Gimenez, Amazon
27 July 2005
  • Summary: Nice printer, works fairly quicker than my previous Canon. Only downside, as other have pointed out, is the lack of catch tray. My old ink worked just fine for this one also, didnt even need to buy a differnt type.

Not bad for a $50 printer

Kimberly A. McKinnis "starbreiz", Amazon
8 July 2005
  • Summary: The printer was actually free after rebate with a desktop PC from Fry's. I gave it 4 stars because while it's great for the average Joe to print photos from the Canon Easy-Photoprint application, I'm having a lot of issues getting it to print from any other application, i.e. Adobe Photoshop 7. Granted, I've only used the drivers from the included cd, and haven't spent a huge amount of time troubleshooting, but it ought to work out of the box.
