Summary: That last part makes me very upset. You'd expect that a new device right out of the box would have everything you needed to get it to work. I'd give this printer 4 stars if the USB cable was in the box. Not this time. Otherwise, I was very happy that even though my new MacBook, (OSX 10.8.4), doesn't have a CD drive, it automatically found and installed drivers for this printer with very little input from me.
Pros: Good print quality. Small size is great for traveling.
Summary: I have spent several hours today trying to get iP100 to print directly from my IPHONE (with out wires) refreshed the drivers twice, already have purchased the BU-30 blue-tooth USB adapter, found out through some experimentation the the BT dongle will works the same either on the right side (looking at the iP100 from the front) OR in the hidden recessed compartment UNDER the plastic panel on the left.
Summary: I actually had two of these because the first one was replaced under warranty. The first one worked fine for about 5 months and then started with chronic paper misfeeds. I tried different paper, cleaning the roller, and all the other troubleshooting methods Canon recommends, but it either wouldn't feed or it would grab 6 sheets crooked, etc.
Conclusion: This is the worst printer I have ever purchased especially considering the high cost. I have had the printer now for six months, and when I try to use it I am never positive if it will print or not. The page feeder seems to be the major issue whether I am using bluetooth and printing wirelessly or by USB connection. I warn you NOT to purchase this printer.
Summary: The advertisements suggests this printer is "Portable" and great for "Mobile" use. It needs a very long extension cord.... And no where in the reviews does anyone report that this "portable" printer does not come with a battery. As a matter of fact, one reviewer reported it did. (Does NOT!) I had a Canon BJ portable about 15 years ago that came with a battery, so I didn't catch on until I tried to find a non-existant battery charge status indication.
Pros: NewEgg delivers quick... Got my package in 2 days. Nice print quality for small printer. BT adapter (either mini or full size) can be installed in two different locations, one of which is "hidden" and protected.
Cons: Very expensive portable printer with NO BATTERY... must buy extra from Canon for additional $99!! And it mounts on the back... appears to be ungainly. No USB cable, but MUST have to install drivers. software support on enclosed CD does not work. Must go directly to Canon web site to register or get current downloads because the auto installed icons don't link. Obviously an old CD is provided that has not been updated. No carrying case for printer or wire wrap for powe...
Excerpt: I travel alot and am in need of a mobile printer that has good print qualities and times, can be durable and reliable. After all, isn't that what we all look for in a mobile device. Being a canon it definitely lives up to its name for print quality, rich, vibrant colors and reasonably fast print time. However, after the initial use, it became one for the scrap heap. It constantly jammed, the printer heads locked and not much to say in the "reliable" category.
Excerpt: I had the ip90 printer and loved it. Purchased this printer 6 months ago and have had nothing but trouble with it. It Jams over and over every time I use it. It also tears up the paper on the edges.
Paper Feeder Jams, not good for printing multiple pages
4 April 2010
Summary: This Printer is great except that when I load multiple sheets, the rollers and feeder mechanism grab 5 or 6 sheets at once. I double checked the setting and ran a diagnostic. I also tried different paper types/quality, fanning and pre-sorting the paper, bending the paper, and nothing worked. Every time the print job reached the second or third page, 5 or 6 sheets would be jammed through. This issue makes printing more than 2 sheets at once nearly impossible.
