This is the one!

  • Excerpt: Get this Canon Printer! I love it.<br /><br />Do not buy an Epson 4900, 7900, 9900. They print great when they print, but they have terrible head clogging issues. Shortly after the warranty ran out, several of the heads on my 4900 clogged up. If this had happoned with an Epson warranty, I would have had to pack it up and send it back to Epson. Without a warranty, I was looking at a $1,500 minimum service call.
  • Pros: Durable construction, Easy To Set Up, Easy To Use, Fast Print Time, Low Ink Consumption, Reliable

  • Excerpt: I've been using this printer for about 1 week, and could not be happier. Using the paper profiles supplied by Canon and printing from Lightroom, I've been able to get an almost perfect match between my calibrated monitor and the finished prints. The prints shoot out very fast, are extremely durable (I submerged one in water with no apparent damage after it dried), and are definitely of professional quality.
  • Pros: Easy To Set Up, Easy To Use, Fast Print Time

Moved up from my canon 9500!

  • Excerpt: Still becoming acquainted! Setup was fairly painless and so far so good. Prints are huge. Oh boy! Wish there were more roll paper options. 100 foot rolls to long for this printer, so somewhat limited. Nothing like a 24 x 36 Brown Bear portrait! Print quality is top notch.

  • Excerpt: I'm giving 5 stars for the printer. I would give 3 for the shipping service. <br /><br />Love this printer. It's the perfect size for my graphic design services. Most of my prints are 11x14, so I can do two-up prints and spool as many as I need. I use it with the Canson 440gsm Museum Quality Canvas, which is really really thick and it works wonderfully! <br /><br />The print quality is phenomenal. <br /><br />Very easy to set up.

Arduous but Good

  • Excerpt: Not user friendly, not in the slightest. It took me about 3-4 weeks and multiple phone calls to get it to do one single print. There was something wrong between the Canon/Apple interface. Then it didn't quite match the monitor. Finally I used the xrite I1Profiler Display. I had to print out 4 pages of sample color swatches and then scan them in with the xrite software. This was a real pain in the butt.

Superb Color

  • Excerpt: The only reason for the missing 5th star is the somewhat arcane paper loading instructions. You have to follow what seems to me to be very procedural tasks to do what with other printers is intuitive. If you load the paper before asking the printer to load the paper, you have to unload and reload, etc. But that's a nit. Once you become an obedient servant of the printer protocols, you get fantastic print quality. Roll paper feeds nicely.
  • Pros: Durable construction, Easy To Set Up, Fast Print Time, Great color, Low Ink Consumption
  • Cons: Arcane Paper Handling

After looking at the rest it was best

  • Excerpt: If there were more options in rating I would give it 4 1/2 or 4 3/4 stars. <br /><br />I moved up from an iPF5000, which was a very good printer. Everything on the iPF6400 is improved by a two or three notches. The ink in particular has improved gamut and much less gloss differential. I have read that Epson ink is more damage resistant but I don't see that, but maybe that was the older ink.

  • Excerpt: Bought this to replace a broken ipf5000, It seems to print quite nicely and the plug in works with CS5 (the 000 series does not). Still gave me some communication issues until I completely rid my system of the ipf5000 drivers etc...

Better than anticipated

  • Excerpt: All my fellow photographers were urging me to get the Epson 7990. I also have a 3880. The Canon fit my space better. As I put it together I was impressed with the clever level of engineering involved. The Canon got my attention due to the better, or should I say, more frugal use of ink. Canon ink is also rated higher than the competition for permanance. The prints are first class and I would recommend this unit to anyone.
  • Pros: Compact Design, Easy To Set Up, Easy To Use, Excellent Print Quality, Fast Operation, Reliable
