Network Connectivity A Beast

Summary: I consider myself about an 8 on the 1-10 "tech savvy" scale (I build my own PCs from components, I know my way around HTML, etc.) but getting every computer on our small office network to be able to "find" and print to these machine was a beast. It was OK in terms of Windows (7--64-bit) machines finding it but the Mac on the network refused to see it for nearly a month; I was just about ready to send it back, because I thought I had tried everything.
Summary: Running on Win 7 Pro USB. I cross shopped this with HP P2035, which I am well acquainted with. This Canon was half the price and it is every bit as good a printer. Quality build. Small footprint. Fast first print. Quiet when asleep. Very simple (No LED display) to operate. If you are looking for a basic monochrome desktop laser printer, then look no further. For $120 you simply cannot do better.
Summary: I love the printer. It's the fastest one I've ever had. It handles thick, glossy paper easily, heavy workloads - great for an office. It set up instantly and easily on Windows 7, but it was very difficult to set up on a Mac 10.8. I called tech support who tried everything two people there knew how to do. While waiting for them, I tried just ignoring all the error messages and typing in the IP address (that I got off my windows computer's network).
I like it, but no live tech support by phone when needed...

Summary: The Canon LBP6300dn came very quickly from the vendor. Everything went picture perfect until I had an error message in installing the driver on my HP running XP. I am not sure exactly what was wrong, but I had no forewarning that my XP might be incompatible. I did coax it to print a few pages, but I had many fights. I uninstalled and re-installed it a couple of times.
Summary: Over all not a bad printer and does what I want. I wanted a mono printer because I got tired of buying color ink and never using color. Found out that printer manufacturers lay down layers of color under the black supposedly to make the black look better. With the highly inflated price of ink I don't need that. Prior to this printer I had a Canon Pixma that did a terrific job other than eating large quantities of ink.
Summary: There is nothing outstanding about this mono laser printer from Canon, but there is also nothing wrong about it either. It will perform exactly like how you would expect it to perform, and that is why I am giving it well deserved 4 stars. It won't awe you or impress you, but it won't frustrate you. And for the price, you get quite the bang for your buck.
