Stopped working in 4 weeks. No return the same day it stopped functioning.

Summary: I was happy with this printer until it completely stopped working after only 4 weeks. I print about 10 pages a week, so it wasn't over use that caused it to shut down. It says it is printing but the machine is silent. Since I have had it such a short amount of time I thought I was lucky to have purchased it from Amazon so I could return it. However, I just checked and it is non-returnable after 4/21/14. Interesting, that is the exact day the printer stopped working.
Summary: I have been unable to get the Canon printer to talk to my Macbook. I was online for over an hour for tech help, then on the phone for almost two hours with an "expert" who at the end tried to sell me a $700 policy to "clean up" my computer. My son, who works with computers, also tried for over an hour to hook my Macbook up with the printer.
Summary: I bought this printer based on a critique that indicated it is compatible with a MacBook. Well, NOT. No Apple drivers are included and I found it very confusing on how to locate the correct drivers. The printer went back, even though the return shipping cost me almost $14.00.
Excerpt: The first printer we received was damaged inside the inner box packaging. Staples was quick to replace this with no problems! When we received 2nd printer, it was undamaged. However, our IT technician tried several times to install this printer on a workstation with Windows 7 newly installed on the machine. The Canon software disk that came with the printer stalled and froze up the computer two times. Then, he tried to download the printer driver from the network.
Summary: I've owned and used computers, printers, scanners, and many high and low end peripherals, and been prime IT guy where ever I have worked, and this is the first time I have had to throw in the towel. Even after much help from Canon, I still (after 30 hours of trying) could not get this thing to work. You will likely have better luck on a PC, but if you are on a Mac stay away!!!
Conclusion: The Mac drivers for this printer are a MESS. I bought this printer without reading enough reviews. Now that I have the printer, and spent hours trying to get it to work, I found the angry Mac user reviews. Basically, you may be able to get this work. But don't bet on it. The price is tempting. But don't be fooled. This thing is junk.
